For the last 3 years, french skaters have been climbing the mont Ventoux in the south of France.
Their numbers are incresing every year. While its a bit late for this year, I'm posting this link in case some of you want to put it in their agenda for next year.

The skate is not an organised event, more a grouing of skaters.

For those who don't know what the Mont Vantoux is, ask LS-Mike to describe it to you. As a big fan of cycling, he should know.
I also think that this is the type of skate well suited to Mike.

That's a great find, thank you!  I'd love to do this next year, and I couldn't imagine more fun than going with a bunch of you guys and gals.

while I loved to test myself on the Mont Ventoux, I will wait and see how I'll fare on the 111 climbs.
This weekend I was in the south of France and I really suffered on the longer climbs and I only did 30km.

I cycled it once. I't quite a long climb.
And the part that runs through the forrest is very steep.
But luckily there are these roadsigns to entertain you: 'Next 4.8 km 9% climb'

Good thing we started our hilltraining last week:

I'm totally up for this. Sounds fantastic. I think I might make contact with the dudes running the site to see what plans they have for 2007...

I really want to do this one next year  Exclamation

Climbing 1610m on a 21.5km road, average 7.5%, parts of 10.7%, 90+km/h wind, fog, landscape looks like the moon...

THIS is what we are talking about.
Even the graph is scary!

Are they sure THIS isn't the moon?

Last time I was up there (bicycle) the mountain was completely covered in clouds. The view can be totaly different.
Next to the Tommy Simpson memorial monument there was "Highway to Hell written on the tarmac".
Very interested in this one.

If you like such climbs, you might als fancy Glarus, last stage of the Swiss Inline Cup...
