Think I'm out to play, and Mike, I may want to have a chat with you about the philisophical possibilities of responsible suiciding. Vis a V redlights and Peds.

and Gav, Guildford? Me interested, more in a PM.

Red lights?  I stop for them on the bike, but that's because it's illegal not to.  On skates it's perfectly legal to blow them, though whether it's morally correct or sensible is another matter.

Edit, oh, and peds?  You mean scaring/hitting them?  That's never acceptable.  They are vulnerable road users like skaters and cyclists, we should be very tolerant and avoiding of them.  Cagers in their cages, on the other hand...

I figure that red lights are a warning that something else may have right of way, and peds have right of way anyway.  I might slow or swerve for either

But I can't come out to play this week anyway

i'll be there

red lights = higher risk of injury and higher risk of loosing rest of skate

I'm gonig to the moraly correct and sensible, and I'm not too sure I'd like to argue the toss with the fuzz either.

But just thinking, as I've been known to stop and wait at lights while skating even on a few NTWNSs too how other people felt, and if it was just me who felt a bit bad bowling through like we owned the place.

Seems we want skating as a mode of transport, and to be anarcic too, when we feel like it.

Wasn't planning on having this debate here and now, just some time and sounding out opinions.

Attempts remove cat from pigeons and stuff back in bag, weld lid back on can of worms etc...

My 2pees worth

If it gets out of hand there would be a chance of getting an ASBO slapped on us and would effect skating in general not just the NTWNS

Think the risk is low though - but something to bear in mind

Safety - I for one am going to try and be sesible and stay in one piece as i would go mad sitting at home, broken

That's obvious, if you're skating outside your own limits and abilities, you shouldn't be on the NTWNS, nor any other skate for that matter.  Always skate to within what you know yourself capable of, and be aware how your abilities drop off with exhaustion.

As far as I am aware ASBOs are applied to individuals, not activities. They would need a bye-law for skating to be affected.

That should not be seen as an excuse to skate wrecklessly. You should always think about the consequences of your actions to not just yourself but to those around you including people not connected to what you are doing.

Oooohhh, that was so good!  Such a nice chilled and enjoyable skate, twice up Pentonville too.
