Hi guys,

If anybody can help with the questions below I would greatly appreciate it:

1.Is there any skating (inline) organisations within Ireland ideally dublin that you are fimiliar with?

2. How might I adapt to speed skates from an Ice Hockey backround with
16 years of experience on ice?

3. Would it be impossible or  possible for me to complete the Berlin marathon solo at this late stage?

4.  Powerslide infinity, are they decent entry level skate?

5. Has anybody ever dealt  with necy.com?

Thanking you in advance

I've only been speed skating for a few months now and the one thing that I need to improve on right now is my skating posture.
I've been getting back pains during training for the past few months now but it is getting better Smile
As Adrian (our coach) says, you need to skate more and sit lower.

As for my speed skates, I've got a pair when it was on sale in Club Blue Room in London. I bought a pair of K2 mod longmount skates with 100 mm wheels for £166.
A lot of people here wear Bont skates with 110mm wheels. (Most likely my next pair of skates will be Bont too)

As for Powerslide infinity, I'm not used them before. But with any skates, you need to try them on first to see if your feet like them or not.

The Goodwood marathon is next month and is still open for skaters. http://www.goodwoodmarathon.co.uk/

The club has got affiliated Retailers - Club Blue Room and Custom-Sport.
Have you tried them out?

Hallo!

1. FIRS is the international sporting organisation for all rollersports, and they have contact details for National federations here: http://www.rollersports.org/RollerSports/content/federation.html (Ireland's contact is a hockey related one, though they may have contacts for speedskating).

2. Full on speed skates will be significantly different, but depending on the quality of your experience, I would assume that you'd be developed enough to adapt quicker than beginners.  A lot will depend on the type of skate you get, how much time you put into it, and access to coaching / group training.

3. The sooner you get on skates to see what state you're in, the sooner you will know.  A lot will be based on your answer to 2, but I would definitely say it's possible.

4. The main brands out there from a speedskating perspective are Bont, Powerslide, Rollerblade and K2.  You have recreational skates built for speed by the same brands, but also from the likes of Seba too.  Typically, anything made by those companies would be good quality, but the most important thing is finding a skate that fits you comfortably - that means trying on as many pairs as you can.

5. Sorry, no.  I'm assuming that you're based in Ireland...if you have any trips to the UK planned, I'd make a point of trying to visit a shop to try on skates.  Club Blue Room, in London, probably has the best range of speedskates in the UK.  They do have a website, but it's not truly reflective of what they have in store.

Good luck!
