@Howard I take your point regarding the drivechain because weight savings will have a knock on effect on life span but understanding of components liker brakes, gears etc is the high end stuff is made from higher grade materials and forged in a more advance manner which will make them stronger and give longevity, but I would say that wouldn't I.

Well yeah but you have to define what the higher end is - I'd admit there probably isn't much in it between Tiagra 9 speed and 105/ultegra 10 speed, but all will out-last a dura-ace cassette by some margin. Ti cogs!

But the Tiagra will leave you with some extra cash in your pocket though to buy some nice rims with Smile

Sorry this a bit Shimano specific, I'd expect the same with campag / sram too.

I guess I would define higher end be 105 and up for Shimano and Chorus and up for Campag.

Well done on your new bike and sorry about the stolen one.

I'm also on the lookout for a second bike but I missed the one I wanted: trek 4.7 triple 2010, all models my size gone. Was to greedy in hoping on big sales.

Which leave me now with no bike fitting my requirements:
Must be blue, triple, €2200 and full carbon.

Closest I have seen is Cube 2011 Agree GTC Race Triple

Cannondale Synapse 105 or Ultegra can be had for around that price if you shop around. Not in blue, though :p

Where do you live that requires desecrating a full carbon frame with a triple?

Well, I know they're out of stock at Reaction Cycles, but I guess it's probably available elsewhere. Were you also looking for a 2010 model? Or any year? I imagine you could probably get one on ebay or somewhere.

Not sure, whatever I can find via cycle scheme... so more likely they'll only have 2011 models now I guess...

I was more wondering how you were getting on with it ( and compared to your ex-bike ).
