I haven't tried it, but I'm thinking it could be a good after-work route once I know the route (first trip probably in daylight, then)

42km, includes Hampstead, Highgate, Alexandra Park.  According to bikehike
Quote:

Total Ascent:   2336   ft
Total Descent: 2215 ft
Start Elevation: 89 ft
End Elevation: 89 ft
Min Elevation: 82 ft
Max Elevation: 449 ft

(Yes, it says the ascent and descent are different.  Yes, it's a circular route.  Just be very very careful about unclipping when you finish, you may be 100ft above road level ...)

very randomly we discussed doing this yesterday - plan was to practice for the tour de france (or something like that).

We also discussed doing this either weekend mornings or a sort off, evening ride (start about 11pm) so that there were less cars...

11pm not really doable for me, vis a vis domestic harmony.  So that would be saturday mornings then

But I suspect it's more likely to be daytime long lunches instead :-)

A route very similar to this used to be my regular Tuesday night training ride.

I started at East Barnet, went to Alexandra Palace hill, then Muswell Hill, then Highgate Hill, then Highgate West Hill, then Highgate via the graveyard hill, then Muswell hill, Alexandra Palace hill and home.

Fondly known as the 7 hills by my local cycling club, it was always a great race up each hill.

If anyone is interested, we could do a Sunday training ride from Tatem on this route ?..........if I can still manage it !

I still haven't tried it, been busy getting married.  Maybe this week

OK I'm also interested and could do tomorrow instead of crap Mit-Skate, not thursday as I'll be at a private view at Flower's East if you want to come and say hello.

Or could squeeze it in a daytime?

Would be interested, especially if it's on a week-end (and the weather is decent enough).

Tonight I went out for a ride around Regents Park but on my 3rd circuit the outer cycle was closed off due to a motorcycle incident so I decided to head up towards Hampstead via Swiss Cottage,

I ended up doing Hampstead Hill then Highgate West Hill, Highgate Hill and then Swains Lane followed by Muswell Hill and Alexander Palace.

Hampstead is just a short hop from Regents Park so If anybody is up for meeting up there I would be more than happy to take you for a little hilly circuit.

This was discussed at lunch today...Matthew's expression regarding cycling the route at night was priceless Smile

Though the consensus is we'd be up for it as a morning ride Thumbs Up...unfortunately it's another notch for Northern related training Smile
