11kg for a fixie?  My geared bike[*] is lighter than that ...

and that's probably why.  In IT industry terms I would describe these as "bugs, not features"

If you need to try a fixie I can lend you my converstion for a while, just to see how you get on with it. (Road geometry 531 frame, drops, both brakes, look pedals)
