Briefly in the start of the video on the homepage. Mainly George. I thought Andy was interviewed but perhaps that was for someone else.
This is the thread for 2011. Conditions were perfect last year so maybe don't expect the same this year but it is just about the most friendly 24 hour race going with a small number of teams.
It's maximum 6 people in a team. As you can see from the video the there are not many teams on the track so it would be great if we could take 2 equally balanced teams to work together as pairs all the time. It saves 30 secs or more a lap and could push us up the leader board. I think we were 5th last year. 2 teams could push for a podium, though that would mean hanging around for the whole of the auction at the end which was all in Dutch so not particularly interesting to most of us. So maybe 4th is a good target
Travelwise it's pretty easy. The race starts on Friday so it's leisurely coming back but you need to leave on Thursday to be comfortable if doing it by car. Don't need to take Thursday off though. We stayed in a nice hotel near Schipol on Thursday night. The small rental car was really good with 3 of us in it last year. Could do 4 easily with a bigger car or 6 in an MPV, but the logistics can get sorted once we have people sign up.
For those that like 24 hours but not the hill at Le Mans then this course is for you. It's nearly flat with a tiny undulation with perhaps 1.5m difference between the lowest and highest parts. It's next to a 5km ice track which is completely flat so the opportunity to put in a hill was a bit limited It's very smooth. It you want to see the track, I posted a video of a lap on Facebook from last year. This was after most people had finished so the track is even more empty. If you can't see it then I'll change the permissions but I think it is open to everyone, even people not on facebook. Rather wobbly, filmed with a handheld iPhone.
I haven't seen the dates for 2011 yet but assuming for now that it's about the same time then that would put it on Friday 2nd September to Saturday 3rd.
Anyone interested? George is, I am.

Count me out
Though I might be tempted if there's a fun team that needs filling... |

| Confirmed - and I think I'd like to try out for a team that is aiming to be competitive. |

No, there's no public transport to get to the venue. |

I am in.
The LSST team from 2010 (Merten, Greazer, Rick, Alan, Speedy Dave, me) came 5th, and that's with being down to 5 people after 8 hours, and 4 people for the last 6-7 hours.
So I think we should have at least one team that aims for a podium finish!

Excellent - I think that unless anyone states otherwise we'll just divide the teams according to speed, unless any fast people want a chilled race. I for one am feeling competitive!
If there are enough speedy people then it might be worth considering two balanced teams that cooperate. |

I'm in.
Thought we were looking to have teams with people of similar abilities so we could skate together?
This worked for a dutch club that had 2 teams and skates together, we teamed up with them and managed to catch the team who were a lap in front of us and then lapped them.
I think its possible to get 2 teams on the podium if we work together.
Remember this is not le mans, there only a handful of people out on track, so if you can draft someone it helps a lot |

Still in! I am maybe a little less fit as last year, but up for a decent challenge.
On team compositions, I am not sure whether to send one team that can fully compete / race with other podium contestants would be better than two similar teams.
By the way we are in the public section - no strategy discussions here |

Ferry Harwich->Hook of Holland about £250 (tho' AA members get discounts), plus 150km of driving at the far end.
Haven't looked at trains/planes yet |
