Any LSST members that want to do a second 24 hour race this year?
It's not a huge event like Le Mans, it's more or less a "small" event that was very good last year IMO.
Very well organised by experienced people, campsite right next to the track, a chalenging course and lots more. This event is for 6 person teams (was 5/team last year) so a lot more skating per person than Le Mans. Most important thing is; we had a lot of fun last year!
For info about this event best post questions here or contact me or Anne-Jelmer via PM/mail since the 2006 site isn't up yet and will probably only be available in dutch.
Raps24 website (in dutch)
Cheers,
Andy. |

Can you please post some more info on
- course (profile, length, ....)
- location
- approximate entry fees
- anything else you think might be worth mentioning
I doubt I'd enter a second 24 hour race this year, but maybe? |

1 lap is to be 2.3km. It's in a woodland park and is probably rather flat. I think it's in a place called Hulsbeek.
150€ per team. Maximum 5 people in a team. Yes, only five! |

That's right.
That's what it was last year.

That uphill right after the start/finish is not exactly what I'd call flat.

Nope. 6. Yes, only 6...

Yes! Anne-Jelmer has done both Le Mans and Raps24, he says Le Mans is a lot harder to do even though you have a team of 10 instead of 5 (before) / 6 (now) for the Raps24. Maybe he has just been taking it too easy in Le Mans... I don't see how 2.4 hours of hard skating can be easier than doing 4 / 4.8 hours of hard skating in the same 24 hours... Well, I'm going to find out for myself this year! |

Well, let me put it this way. After Raps 24 we expected to have an easy run in Le Mans with a team of 10. But it didn't happen.
I think the anaerobic labour in the le Mans lap is a lot more becauce of the 600m hill. And the shorter distance of a lap.
At the Raps race the hill isn't that heavy, and shifts are longer. So the speed is just a little bit kept down to stay in the aerobic energy system. |
