This is transferred from the discussion of the other Regents Park thread.
It seems EdP, Toby, Barrie and I are up for a skate on Sat morning doing the outer loop of Regents Park (it seemed ok last Sat). Barrie needs to head off to Mike's video review at 11 so that's why we are starting earlier.
Meeting Point: South-east corner of Regents Park (on outer loop) - closest to Regents Park and Gt Portland St tube stations.
Time: 9am
I was planning to do 3x20min @ 65-75% with 5min rest periods in between. (slow rolling to keep warm). This should be something in between Tatem Group1 and Group2 in terms of speed. So hopefully everyone is cool with that.
I will aim to get there at 8.30 to practice the drills from the Tatem and Long Slow Skate session, but starting the actual skating at 9am.
Please come along if you feel like a skating in this glorious (though bitterly cold) weather!! |

You go clockwise?
I'm not sure how best to meet up due to not knowing where I'll be parking, so obviously don't wait around... I might be lost ( Maybe send me a text, just so I know ).
Hopefully parked pre-9, in which case I'll give you a call so you can drop your bags.
If post-9, I'll send you a text and skate anti-clockwise to meet you.
I won't have done any warm-up though, so I should try to meet you a little earlier anyway... |

Anti-clockwise.
There will be lots of spaces at that time in the morning, but not sure if they're free of charge. |

hey barrie, sorry I didn't see this post earlier!
Yes your approach sounds good. Yes we will be skating anti-clockwise.
For the drills (8.30-9.00) I am going to use the smooth straight road connecting the inner loop with the outer loop - it hits the outer loop on the eastern side of Regents Park. This is only about 400-500 metres from the southeastern corner.

| Given the weather I might have to whimp out to look after a sore throat, I'll see how it is in the morning... |

Realistically there was no way I was getting up at 9am in this weather, glad you guys had fun though.
I did go out for a bit under an hour in Hyde Park this afternoon from about 1pm-2pm but OMFG it was still cold. The paths were quite dry however, which was the main reason for going out in the afternoon. So it was ok. Next time must wear ear-warmers though. |

| Yup, I got to Hyde Park for 9.30 and froze. Anyone got any sock tips for winter training? I have to wear thin ones in my bonts but my feet are numb with cold within 10 minutes of skating at the moment! |

| One tip from cycling is that if you keep your core warm, then your extremities are much less likely to get cold too. |

| I have been wearing my woolen ski socks, which have been great for running and cycling - couldn't use them for speedskating though for obvious reasons. |
