But luckily we (LSST), are such a small proportion of the marathoners, that relatively speaking even I am fast (thanks to Engadin, I'm in Group D, luckily I didn't have to mention my 2hr 16 Goodwood))
I started in the "just under 2 hours" group last year, as I persuaded them to let me up a group on the day (relatively easy to do when you pick up your registration pack, especially if you are in the lowest group, and want to be moved up one group)
I started moving up through the "1hr 50" group about 15 mins into the race, and they were really not very with it:
- Universal heelbrakes, and using them when taking the inside line on corners!
- no idea of the concept that you are faster if you get behind someone else, so frequently there would be 3 or 4 people, all strung out accross the road
So, if you regularly streetskate in london, you will love berlin, and find lots of people to overtake and lots of people to skate with
I understand that groups A-D tend to develop massive pace lines, and have a completely different feel to the part of the race I was in last year - really looking forward to it
just wish my junkers had arrived in time...

I like this thread...
Feeling better about going now too
The annoying thing is when you feel that you are kind of fast, right, and then two weeks later everyone else seems a lot faster!! It's just not fair, what did they do, is there a secret they all know about???
Eherm, not that I am competitive or anything, ehee....
It's gonna be fun actually and Marty yes - I reckon beer is okay and ecpecially for people like Trbo T & Sonic Sol they should drink lots and lots of beer and smoke lots of fags, the night before... |

What's losing? Coming last? If so then I don't know what it feels like.
Had a teach once say to a class, "Winning isn't everying.....but losing isn't anything" |
