I have the entry forms. It would be nice to have a few teams in there. We have Male Seniors and Female Seniors. We don't have enough Juniors to make a junior team but Matt could probably race with one of our Senior team if he wants to since ERRSA doesn't have enough racer to make up their own team. I may have to check that with FISS though and he'll need to borrow a skinsuit (medium I guess)

Ladies in particular it would be great to see you out there as there is a pretty much guaranteed medal.

The club will pay the registration fee for the teams. Maximum 3 people per team. You can run with 2 but it is very hard work. Maximum 2 teams per club per race, I think. We can certainly put 2 in per race if we want.

Prerequisites - you need to be a club member and a FISS member.

Who is up for it? Gav, Hans, Dan, Garan, Matt, Ray, Alastair, Craig, me maybe for the guys....

I'd be up for one of the relay events. What are the distances?

5,000m for the senior men
3,000m for the senior ladies

You don't skate that far. In a 3 man team you will skate approximately 2/3 that distance if you do one lap and change or 1/2 the distance for 2 laps and change. Obviously somewhere in between for a combination of 1 and 2 laps.

The reason you skate more than 1/3 is because when you change you skate a whole lap slowly to get back to the relay position. You will only be racing for 1/3 of the distance.

I would certainly be up for that if you want me. I am the only male racer at ERRSA so I would have to race with LSST if I wanted to do the relay.

But I was just wondering if I can still do it concidering that I will still be a cadet and not a junior yet. Is that OK still? Confused

I don't think the age is a problem Channel Moore has been racing in Seniors since she was 13. Anyone can move up to and older group to get more competition up to seniors or down seniors from veterans for the same reason. It's seniors that are trapped.

The problem may be that you are racing in FISS under ERRSA. Although they know you are an LSST member too there may be some ruling that states you can't race for two clubs.

Since you're up for it and so long as we can get others to have a team with you in it then I will ask the question of FISS rather than spring it on them. If Nic McKensie wants to race then I would see our top team as being him, Gav and Hans. That you leave you looking for others. If only one other wants to do it then I'll make up the 3rd. However, given the shortage of officials I would probably be helping racing more if I did that.

But once you move up you can't move back again... but I know for indoors relay there was special allowances for including juniors or cadets in your senior team.

Word from Debbie is that it is a no go for Matt to race in an LSST relay this season. Sorry, Matt.
