So I'm interested... what resting Heart Rates do people have.

For those that don't know, the most accurate way to measure it is while you are still lying in bed after waking up.

Also, a lot of professionals tend to ignore the resting HR as a value, and rather look at the difference between the resting, and the standing HR. ie. Measure it in bed. Stand up, wait 10-20sec, measure it again.

After a hard cycle last night, my resting was 63. What I was really happy about is that my standing was then only 75. That's defn the lowest differential I've ever seen. My resting HR has never been that low, even when fit. I think the lowest I've ever seen it is 57.

My resting rate in summer time when I am getting more exercise is 43. It's 49 at the moment. I measure it quite a lot along with my blood pressure. Resting HR is quite a good way of telling if there is something wrong with you. If it suddenly goes up and won't come down you might have an infection or something.

Befroe my high blood pressure was diagnosed my resting HR was about 68.

Yup. Jumps in your straight resting HR gives an excellent indication of overtraining, sickness, and hard drinking nights.

48, give or take.  Whether that's fitness or incipient bradycardia, who knows?

What's weird is that my HR while standing still with skates on is somewhere north of 100 - at least, last time I measured it.  It was a fairly cold day, though

I used to do a lot of cross country running as a teenager, and at my fittest had a resting HR in the low 40s.  I once measured a 37.   Shocked

I dunno what it is at the moment, usually the mid 40s I think.

Personally I would say that's neither here nor there. It's not a good indication of much. Standing HR should also be measured first thing in the morning.

Just took mine today, since I have only just got up and I was 44. BP was 128/76 which is pretty good for me too.

If I've been relaxing for a while, I can be as low as 40, but I'm not fit at the moment (too many assignments and not enough exercise) so just doing a quick check now I'm about 54...  Stupid heart.

Hi Gav,

Mine is 42.

But i knew a very fit skater from old that when he slept his heart rate was 11.......

Set off all the machines in the hospital.

11 heart beats per minute and snoring his head off.....lol
