Anyone need space in a car or a room on Saturday night at the Etap?
I'm looking for a 4th person for the car (hopefully) and a room sharer for the hotel.
Hans still looking?
Leaving London about mid day ish, but vauge on the Saturday, then back after the open on Sunday.
Tunnel costs £60 quid between car memebers, fuel on top of that.
edit. Hans looks like he now has a room mate...
But we still have space in the car. |

Registered.
I'm assuming that our FISS licences will do for the below, as per Le Mans? (Hmmm - now where's my FISS licence? )

It goes for any sport event in France. The only reason why the Licensed skaters do not need to provide a certificate for racing is that they provided one at the beginning of the season to get a license.
So bringing your License is definitely a good idea.
In my opinion the best thing to do will be to get all the numbers at the same time, the same way clubs do, it could be useful to get a list with FISS number on it.
You might need to give the organisator an ID or 75eur for the race chip (back at the return of the chip). cheques are fine.
I have to admit than most of the time they're not really paying attention about these details... |

| Last year I wrote a disclaimer, and that was sufficient for them. I'll do the same this year. |

I've sent an email to FISS to see if they can email me my membership details...if I don't get to race, I'll set up my own track
BTW, what time are people looking to arrive in Lille, and whereabouts are you staying?
Maybe we could get together for a team dinner or something?
Alastair, Fred and I are leaving London at 5pm-ish on Sat afternoon (not sure how long it takes to get there).
We're staying at the etap hotel thingy place that's mentioned a few pages ago. |

Sounds like a great idea to me. Going by the details below, Kate, Peter and I should arrive in Lille around 7pm. We're also staying at the Etap hotel.
Can anyone suggest a good place to meet? (I've only been to the area right next to the train station...)

PeterC, Kate and I (plus another, if anyone wants to grab a last-minute lift ), are:
Going out
(local time) Day/Overnight Fare | Folkestone to Calais | Saturday 13 May 2006
Check-in time 15:33 | Departure time 16:03 | Arrival time 17:38 £27
Coming back
(local time) Day/Overnight Fare | Calais to Folkestone | Sunday 14 May 2006
Check-in time 18:58 | Departure time 19:28 | Arrival time 19:03 £32
Multimap makes it look like there's about an hour-and-a-half journey between Calais and Lille, maybe less. |

While I've booked those I think we may go* for an earlier crossing on the Saturday, I just fancy having a look round the town. Anless people would prefer to stay in London that Lille for a chunk of Saturday.
*I understand if there is space they will put you on an earlier crossing if you just turn up, as long as it's in the same price bracket.
Reistered too.
Okay, so I think we need to swap mobile numbers so the first person to the hotel can text they have found it and start scouting out a place for dinner...
Lordy I remember why I like France. |

Just checking with Alastair to see when we're likely to get there. Since we're not leaving London till around 5pm, I suspect we won't get there till late-ish...maybe 9pm?
Can your stomachs hold out until then? PeterC, you have my number...I don't think I'll divert my calls unless I receive too many calls, in which case, will be contactable via text. |

we leave london about 10am. I guess we will be there in the afternoon - and although I will probably have eaten by the time u arrive. We can leave contact location in the reception / under the rooms or something saying where we are - then we can either watch u eat, or eat again |

I have now got 'flight clearance' from family to take the car earlier! So I will look into the possibility of taking an earlier shuttle (around 3pm) so we can meet up and join others for a meal in Lille, provided there is not an additional charge to pay which would exceed (say) £20. There are also two extra places in my car for anyone who can get to Southfields SW18. Fred and Ed are travelling with me, and staying at the Etap Lille Central.
See yez all there!! |

Just managed to change my Tumnnel booking to 15.09 hrs, so Ed and Fred and I will be able to meet up with Alex et al in the lobby at 19.45 as you suggested. (Only cost a fiver to change the time.)
Ed and Fred - should now leave from Southfields around 12.30. can you confirm that you both have my postal address, and that this is OK?
Should be a good one! |
