1945 Etap.
Right, we will have somethig to aim at.
I think I've got Ed, Alex and Tanya's numbers so we should be able to communicate.
Now I've just got to get tonight sorted. |

Did anyone get documents or email confirmation from this? Just working out what I need to take with me, and I can't remember having received anything that indicates I'm actually registered
Presumably we can collect numbers and stuff on the day |

| I got two e-mail confirmations - but I'm sure that entry on the day is possible if there's been any mix up |

Thanks for the shots LHDQ. Very nice, and you seem to have got a good load of us in them.
Well done Dan, still no idea how you stayed with that line at the front, it seemed all too much for me.
I'm not too sure I like mass start races now, I think I'll have to go and buy the boots first aid section. I'm stiffer and hurt more today than I did yesterday.
Nice race, nice town, great first aid, those are the breaks, by the sounds of it... |

Yeah, nice photos. Except for the ugly chap with the continual grimace who had the same skinsuit, skates and helmet as me. Anyone know who he was?

Deep breaths and repeating a calming mantra. The mantra in question was something along the lines of "do that again, you !@#$% and I'll fricking punch you in the face just as soon as the race is over"
The cause of this offence was usually braking (sometimes even t-stopping) in the line on the approach to corners. Actually, it calmed down a lot after the first lap, but it was still a very odd surge/slow/surge/slow progress - on some laps it seemed like I was standing up for half the time.
So, pleased to have stuck with the front pack: this represents an advance on Berlin 1/2 last month. If I were doing this one again, I'd want to be nearer the front of the line and see the breakaway (from where I was at the back I had no idea it had even happened, or when) and have a chance of joining it. Need to work on: sprints (actually, acceleration) and general manoeuvrability issues.
[ Edit: thanks for the results, Ed! Three seconds faster and I could have been fourth not 18th ... ]

OK, help me out with the maths here. According to the result sheet, the winner of the open raced for 54.44 minutes at an average speed of 36.18km/h. If that's correct, and if I've not done my division upside down, that means he travelled a distance of 32.83km - nearly three km over the advertised length.
Was the marathon similarly extended? 13 laps of 3.283km is 42.7km; 14 laps is 46k ... |

I get slightly different numbers a few cm either side of 33km thanks to the wonders of rounding errors.
Marathons on multi-lap courses are often "adjusted" to fit the course eg LIM is only 26miles not the extra 385 yards to make it a whole one. Goodwood laps are about 2.5 miles so 11 laps is well over 26.2
On that the basis of that time/distance I calculate your full marathon time at that average pace to be about 1:13:39. If you think you could have maintained it for another 9.2km then you are going to have a great marathon in Berlin....if it's dry. Watch out Hans/Andy |

| From that it would seem the distance was 48.1km which would make it a stunningly fast race. However, the average speeds of more than 42.2km also suggest that. Have a feeling the speed calculations are wrong otherwise even 12 laps would have been 44.4km. |
