| read on a french board than the speed calculation was wrong for the marathon, but ok for the open race. But don't have more detail on this issue. |

Just noticed this:
| Quote: |
| ATTENTION : il faut ôter environ 12% du temps sur la vitesse moyenne par rapport aux résultats officiels, ils se sont plantés à l'organisation !!! (Uniquement pour le marathon) |
Which roughly translates as you need to remove 12% from the speeds but this only applies to the marathon not the 30k (33) Sorry Hans but you did not average nearly 41km/h but 1:11:03 is a monster fast time for 43km. You would have gone under 1:10 if it had been a proper distance. Solid stuff. So ignore the watchout comment I made about Dan's time earlier. You are going to make quite an impression on the M30s in Berlin if you are fully recovered after Le Mans.
Everyone in this club just gets better and better. |

After my tumble, and loss of the pace line I spent a short while in a line of ladies, they said they were not allowed to draft me, I assume this was the case (different race and all) but would I have been allowed to draft them, which they said was okay?
Not that it mattered much the speed differental was too high, it was nice to be dusted down, checked I was okay and fed water before I went hunting for another line.
I also seem to have done an extra lap, (not too sure when, I'm sure I jumped back on the line I dropped off when it came round again to lap me.)
It was fun, I was again stunned how many fast skaters didn't seem to attack the bends, even the left handers. |

I had a great race for a change but was a bit annoyed at starting at the back and being too far away when the break went off... ahhh well, we live and learn, needless to say with the continual LSST presence in the FIC races we are getting much french loving on, so many people came up to chat to us... .slowly we will take over France and Germany
Big up to Fred for his 1:23:33... the times keep coming down buddy
The race was quite lively, with the pack attacking every corner and having at least one attacking sprint per lap. I did about three turns on the front and for a change, this felt really comfortable and I even managed to initiate a sprint break on my last pull on the front. I was displeased with my final sprint, i left it too late and reacted as opposed to initiating my own break when i was ready.
Still not too upset with the time 1:11 is the quickest time i have ever recorded

Ok first of all I have to thank you guys for all the support you gave me during this race, that was awesome
That's why I was smilling, it was much appreciated.
I'm pleased with the race even if the three first laps were painfull as I realised that my left leg hasn't recovered from the 1:43 skating in the rain the past week end. I tried to drop down on a slower pack but it didn't work, By the time I managed to get my left leg to work the packs were gone and I was on my own. I skated too with one of the Phc guys who was in difficulty for a couple of laps.
For the rest of the race I worked hard in the turns in order to keep a steady pace, toward the end of the race I was feeling better so I slighlty increased my pace, I didn't count the laps so I wasn't sure how many were left, and I finished not sure I completed it, because I was expecting 1:30 really.
Appart from that it was a wonderfull week-end, it was nice to have that much people of the club for a race, hope we will do it again soon. Congratulations to all of you for your races, those who carried on even after a fall or in their first race or both lol.
So a big thank you for this nice week-end |

That will teach me, I thought I had another lap to go, the pace line went for a sprint and I carried on 3 seconds back, could have made a few places there...
Still don't know what happened. Must count laps, must count laps. |

Yeah, likewise, Peter. I thought I had another lap to go so did not 'waste my energy' when everyone else in my pace line inexplicably sprinted for the finish! I actually did a rather lonely extra lap, feeling a bit of a prat by now!! Otherwise it was a great day, and I was pleased with my time (bit less so with my position) given that I faded after the opening sprint, then tripped over a drain cover and fell on lap 2...
(BTW, brilliant performances from Dan and Hans...congrats) |

Yeah, I wondered what you were doing there. I was pretty sure I only passed you once, and that was right near the end... |

Don't worry: the last two events where I had to count laps I did one lap too much. Both times. Even I have a HRM with lap counting. Must remember to use it during the LIM 'cause I do not want to do a lap more then neccessary... |

Only just caught up with this - have been nursing my injuries.
It was a great weekend, skating with the club. Thanks guys for making it so enjoyable. Next time if can remember not to fall in the first lap and am therefore able to stay with a pace line I might do better. I was dissapointed with my time, but at least I finished; it crossed my mind to stop.
Congratulations, particularly to Hans and Dan, but also to all the LSST team.
I like the photo |
