Out of interest, why those over double sided SPD? |

i) I don't have any double sided SPD pedals so I won't miss much
ii) A520s are designed for touring - long periods of time clipped in, hence the 'cage' around clip. Bit more support. Or marketing kefuddle
iii) they weigh about the same as the Look Keos that they replaced
iv) they match my sliver cranks / chainring |

I'm looking at A520s and A530s at the moment as Ribble don't have M520s ( which I also currently have ) as an option ( that said, buying them with the bike only saves a couple of £s ).
If they had M520s as an option I'd have just got them and not wasted time checking the others out.
A520 315-330g single sided SPD ( no idea why the inconsistancy? )
M520 380g double sided SPD
A530 383g SPD one side, flat on t'other
Howard can maybe confirm that both A520 and A530 ultimately swing to have the spd socket pointing up?
I don't need a flat side, so am tempted to go for the A520s as I don't see why I want to spend more to get something I don't want which is a bit heavier. I might well change my mind though |

Yes. But it doesn't actually matter, because you'll be on MTB shoes (I hope) and will be able to push off even with the pedal the wrong way up. If you are using Road shoes with SPDs, stop it, yer doin' it wrong! |

| Yeah of course... it's just a comment I've seen quite a few times, meaning that you don't ( often ) need to flip the peddle. |

Ribble does have m520:

However, you do need to spend over £35 to get the saving! Note that not all retailers include the cleats with them, so something to check - I think they come as standard and it's usually indicated if they're not included. |

Ahhh I see they get filtered out in the BikeBuilder AND the left menu 'cos they're MTB peddles and I've selected "Road and Track".
Atm I've kind've talked myself in to trying out the A520s... but we'll see... |

| Can't help thinking that this is wandering off of the "get Gill on a bike"ness of the original post. |

Oh yeah. In that case the answer is don't look at the pedals, look where you're going |

What, just changed my spds for delta, hoping they are better on my knees...
Would a debate on cleat position make for a double thread-jack... |

Out if interest why deltas over keos?
Nothing to debate about cleat position save for noting that's it's very personal and very important to get it right |
