That wasn't drugs, it was pain, or relief from pain.  Smile

We had a great weekend at the Saarland Skatedays, which was also the European Masters Marathon Championship.   The weather was good, and the event well-organised with a very nice course.   As well as the marathon on Sunday morning there was also a city-centre race and on the Saturday night.

Kay and myself were both a bit disappointed with our performances, especially me, but there was some tough competition out there.

We stayed at the finish for the awards ceremony and were surprised when the first winner to be announced was British  Exclamation   The infamous Sutton Atkins in the 30-plus men.   They even played the National Anthem.

One other winner that a few people here know was Stephanie Pipke, who got the Silver medal in the 30-plus women.

The European Championships is now in its 5th year, and its really become very international now, after starting as mainly a German thing.   There were winners from France, Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy and Germany.

Congratulations too to XSFred who did an excellent time on a tough course.  It was great to talk to him.  He also had cause to celebrate as his team-mate won the over-60s men.

We also spoke to Sebastian who was manning the microphone at the finish.   He  seems to be compering every event we go to!
