OK Glenn (notice open forum as opposed to PM, thought it might give you more encouragement ) I have spoken to Ricky, she has confirmed you can still come Week 3, she should have sent you an email by now with specific details.
Just to remind you, this is my flight plans, obviously going straight to Berlin for the Halbmarathon

Yippee, now booked all my flights as follows:
Sat 29/3 Ryanair FR232 Stansted - Alghero 0615 0950
Sat 5/4 Easyjet EA4588 Olbia - Berlin Scoenfeld 0940 1150
Sun 6/4 British Airways BA0987 Berlin Tegel - Heathrow 1940 2040
|
As I think you have already seen, the flights are still not too expensive so c'mon, get booking |

Cool - just booked for week 3.
Booked same flight as you going out - but not doing half marathon - so booked the late Ryan Air flight coming back on Sat (i.e. basically same flights as Peter C).
Should be awesome fun - both on skates and on the bike (and ...) - really looking forward to it.
Hey Ryan Air flights were only .01p each way (excluding taxes and luggage) - so it's still possible to come relatively cheaply if anyone else is thinking about - I think there's just a couple of places left.

Will try and sort something out to get us to airport early Saturday |

So in the end week 3 comprised just three London Skaters from London together with the three Ms from Germany (though about 55 participants in all).
The week was awesome. Perfect weather (though still very green, as I hear there was plenty of wet weather the week before), great coaching (especially the drill sessions) and really good fun.
On a personal note, I had a reality check on my skate skills and technique, Andy kept mostly to his diet and Peter C came away with a new nickname (3/4 Pete). All in all thoroughly recommended !!!

Soggy Berlin, Dry Sardinia, isn't that how it should always be?
Had great fun, I think I'll be back. Will have to see if I can hold my new skating stride.
Thanks to all those that translated, sorted rooms and laughed when we were told to go back down the hill... |

Not sure about soggy Berlin, but agree whole heartedly about a sunny Sardinia, it was awesome. Haven't totted up all my GPS readings yet but we certainly did some miles - even completing 45 mile cycle ride on our day off
I have said before I really enjoyed last year in the rain, but sunshine week really tops it.
Memories for me...
Sharing, Three of us for a couple of nights, Glenn, yes you DO snore but then it was only for a while! Peter? I found out there really is someone who goes to these things with even more gadgets than me! (But thanks the zinc oxide came in very handy after mine ran out)
Eating and drinking, it actually is possible to resist the fantastic amount of food on offer. I tried religously to implement a diet whilst not running out of energy and I also went dry for the week, thats NO alcohol all week which nearly worked! Also lost net 4lbs over the week which considering the muscle I must have increased I was really pleased with
Technique. Cant really be objective being myself but from feedback received from Sebby in video/mirror review as well as many comments from other coaches and skaters seems I am heading in right direction.
Friends. Made some really good friends from Denmark, Germany and Switzerland who I really intend to keep in touch with (even including some male ) Great to see 3M's again although sorry to see Merten poorly for some of week.
Worst moments...Being persuaded to try the 'not too cold' Sardinian sea....it was so cold I thought I was in the Arctic! Realising after a really fast switchback downhill that my new Swiss friend Manuela had not stopped at the top (as I thought) and had never stopped on a gravel before, resulting in her (to my horror) wiping out. Alls well though, she had Kevlar shorts on and was not too bad
Best moments...All of the tours, the wine tasting (well it was my only night on alcohol!) my new Bonts ...the whole week really and most of all, Sebby, Ricky and all of the coaching staff and crew
Planning for next year already. |
