You might think this a a bit warly for a race meeting, but that is beacuse it is indoors. It's the place they hold the British Indoor Championships so it's a perfect opportunity to get some race practice in on the circuit before the Champs which are exepcted to be sometime between May and July.
2 races for each category one fee covers both races. They are as follows:
Cat 1 (£7) 10 laps & 15 laps
Cat 2 (£7) 10 laps & 15 laps
Cat 3 (£6) 10 laps and 8 laps
Cat 4 (£5) 8 laps & 6 laps
Cat 5 (£5) 6 laps & 4 laps
We don't have any cat 5s and you should be ashamed of yourselves if you are as you'ld only be racing against toddlers. Some of whom cry when they lose. It's not big or clever.
Medals for overall 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each category.
Address of race is at:
Castle Sports Complex
Albion Street
Spalding
and runs from 13:00 to 17:00 registration may be open earlier.
Send your entry forms to:
Marion Doggett
Wisbech Roller Speed
60 Gorefield Road
Leverington
Wisbech
Cambs
PE13 5AT
Closing date for advance entries is Friday 28th January. Yes that's next week. They need to have the long advance booking to make sure the event is viable for the venue. I'll be going and racing too, so lifts are available for the first 4 to ask.
As we don't have a file download area on the website at the moment that I can get to, if you need a FISS event entry form, PM me and I'll email you one. Same goes if you need a FISS registration form.

i am interested to questions:
How do you find out what your category is?
How do you speed up your FISS registration for it to get to you before the event |

More questions:
- Do you need to be FISS member to potentially race?
- What to the categories mean? Is it in terms of lap speed, age?
I'd like to go there, not sure about racing this might be humiliating |

Dont worry too much about humiliation, i have been there and it isn't as bad as you think
It will be a good day out and if the answers Rick sends back are good i will be travelling up as well so there will be plenty of company. |

I'm not worried about no company We'll see about the racing, but I'll definitely come to cheer at anybody who gives it a try!
So please book a place in your car for me, will you? |

See post about Roller Disco/Race on 6th Feb, which will be first race.
Categories are based on speed, and are allocated by FISS (or normally from someone's suggestion who knows how to judge). Hans you'd be a Cat 2 or 3. Merten a 3 or 4.
You do have to be a FISS member (unless there are RAT races in the program, which are for non-members). FISS memberships will almost be definitely be accepted on the day.
I'll come along too... Rick can I jump in the car? |

That's two car spaces gone.
What Gav said for the answers.
Another guideline for categories is to measure yourself against people you may know from the club. Cat 3 contains a very broard spectrum of racers from people better than Etienne to me near the back. Cat 4 contains the likes of Alastair Johnstone and Ray.
As you are an inexperienced track racer Hans, I'd recommend you to cat 3 at the moment but after a bit of practice, if you keep winning, you'll go up to cat 2 where you will race some rather good people....and get whipped by a 13 year old. Young James Ashby whom you may have met at ExCel.
I'll let Sue know who intends to race and if she can have our membership cards ready for Spalding. She'll know anyway as she does the programs but a reminder never hurts.
Any other takers? |

I'll come, sounds fun.
Do I remember somebody saying you need a team skinsuit to race in FISS races? |

Back up to three spaces then.
Tom - A skin suit s required. What size do you think you are? I have only XLs available. Might not be very tight but it shouldn't be loose either. |

Mr.Mike thought i'd be an XL anyway. I'll give it a try.
I'm not a FISS member yet, shall I contact them and say I'd like to join on the day? |

| I'm coming, and I don't mind driving either if more people want a lift. I'm renewing my Fiss membership today, I didn't even get a card last year so I'd be grateful if you could use your schmooze on Sue... Guess I'd put myself in a cat 4. |

| You can use any skin suit in your first year but it's nice to see people in club colours. |

We should get a whip round of skin suits and put in an order as i would like to race in team colours (pure selfishness i know)... also if you are prompting Sue about the memberships, i will be going for the race on the 6th so would be keen to get my card etc for that day...
Could you post up a link to the form so that Farhana and i could pre register.
Thanks |
