Thanks Dave, it's great to see Peter "Parker" Carr in action picking up some shiny!
I notice Mr Calvin takes a different line down the "straights" ( not noticed this when watching the Olympics, the only other time I've watched short track. Also quite nice to watch it without wondering too much if it'll be another last-man-standing victor ). I presume this manoeuvre must be legal ( and tactical to help hold the inside line? ), but what happens if someone else were to cut close to the first cone of the corner, even just a smidgeon in front? ( thus preventing him cutting back to the outside of the cone ). |

Yeah, Ian was well within himself on that race, his line is very conservative, basically forcing me to go round the outside if I'm going at all, and, once I've started a pass, he can just up the pace a touch and I'm skating round the outside adding distance and leaving me open to a pass up the inside for 2nd.
If you compare how much arm swing is going on, Ian is cool as a cucumber with both hands behind his back, I'm shoulders up, swinging a bit and Alan in 3rd is pushing harder to stay with us, and we are all doing the same lap times.
As far as legality goes, I know the rules have changed, to make it more even onto the first block, but I'd still have to be clean and in front before I can take a line I chose, and you can't just lean on people like on inline.
The other factor in this last race is the overall, Ian has won just by making the a final, 1st in 2 distances means the gold is his, who-ever comes 2nd here between myself and Alan is likely to take 2nd overall, so I can't make a risky pass. (Not that I was thinking that at the time.) |

OK so it's a mute point if he can keep in front and/or it's not worth the risk trying.
However I'm still curious if the rules protect him from getting stranded inside of the marker by someone overtaking while he's gliding infield? ( a rule such as the person on the inside having "right of way" ). It seems to me that he's the one changing his line to turn back out again, not the person who's overtaking him in a straight line while he's infield. |

I'll ask those that know when I'm training again, if these is a point when you lose rights, will be good for me to know.
Btw Dave, did you catch any of the other races? Some of the squad boys were on god form. |

| Didn't get anything else on film, but we were there from about 2.30 and went after your race I filmed. |
