If anyone wants to see some, rather than try it. There is an open in Guildfrod tomorrow, Saturday 2nd early evening. And the British champs in Sheffield all of next weekend (but I think you are playing at Tatem then.)

Just in case anyone was in the areas.

3rd relay team was looking for a 4th person, so we now have a vets team, and I'll hav a few other races to make it worth the trip.

But today isn't going to be all that, much cold. <sniff>

2nd in the masters, need to work on passing or getting ahead at the start in the 500, in the longer races 1000m (don't laugh) people are happier to let me off the front...

Whhooo, there, this is all lovely, but it was only an open, the British champs are this weekend, and I fear 2nd there will be a bit of a mission.

Well, for a while it was looking rather good. Got there feeling good, cold mostly gone.

Aced the 1K heat going off the front, got into the final where it was a case of last man standing with me taking on the line when the guy in front stacked. 500 not so good, I just got beaten in the semis and got lane 3 in the final (start is rather critical in such a short event) was still in it till the 2nd lap when someone stacked on the straight and took me down. I then got DQ'd for not skating the course after I got up (thought my knee had gone, so wasn't thinking about the race.) Que lots of ice overnight and much worrying about the relay (the thing I came up to skate)

Next morning the knee felt okay so did the relay (where we didn't cover ourselves in glory, another DQ.)
Individual 800 looking closer to my thing, a nice long start straight, again aced the heat off the front, but let someone get ahead in the semi, got pushed to 3rd and then couldn't get round despite 2 laps hammering round the outside. So the B final (another easy win), and a long wait to see if I made the overall podium.

Which I didn't, it was close, but no cigar, learnt a bit, mainly about not getting DQ'd and a need to work on passing, so assuming no one younger turns up next year, who knows...
