I am now officially done with training. On monday I go into hospital to get the plate taken out of my leg, so I need to relax this week and be in good shape for that. Will go ice skating on Wed, and plan to go to Hillingdon on Thurs to meet the cyclists there, but nothing besides that.

Is the ice skating a closed session? Is it possible to get skates? I am assuming its at Guildford

No it is not a closed session. It is the Aldwych short track club that trains at the Spectrum center on Mondays and Wednesdays - 7:15 - 8:15.

It is possible to come along if you're interested. They are a long-standing club (almost 100 years) and have a proper coaching session and groups on the ice.

Generally they will allow you to use their kit (which consists of really bad fitting ice speed skates Smile ) for the first month after which you either need to pay rental or get your own stuff. Also a good idea to let them know through one of us in advance if you're going to come down for a session.

Hans, Fred and I should be there through the winter.

Membership is £28 or something like that, and then you pay dues of £1 per training session. This they keep a record of and you can pay in bulk amounts.

yup... Bont T2 boots £660 ... blades £150.

Was tired on monday. During the winter I will go twice a week.

She's a slacker. Hasn't been coming regularly recently. But both days she can be there.

I normally catch the 5:45 from waterloo to guildford. Then you catch Bus 100 from the bus station on the other side of the shopping center (5min walk or so, 10min bus ride) to the Spectrum Leisure center

I will get hold of the coach's number so you can give him a shout.

You will need: knee pads, shin guards, helmet (preferably one without any holes in it ie. not cycling, but aggro helmet), gloves, long sleeve and long leg clothing.

OK, got all the kit and am up for getting the 5.45 Waterloo/Guildford. Think Tanya is coming as well.

Did you manage to get coach details to call them? Obviously would prefer to skate tonight but not that bothered if we have to watch first time, so will still come if thats OK with you.

Let me know

Cheers

Yippee......twenty+ years since I have been on ice (properly not Christmas at Somerset House!)
