I have a question for you guys.
When you sign up for a FIC, how do you do it?
By Web ? What do you put down for licenced, your UK/German/Other Number or unlicenced?
Do you still need a medical certificate anyway?
Do you sign up as National or for the Open?
It's information for some Germans who want to do a FIC, so German racer procedures would be useful
Thanks

ah yes... signing up for french races....
Not Fun.
One option is to have somone like me who organise it for others (II have a French Bank account)
Sometimes, they also use sport-up? to allow paying by credit card, but not always. And then sport-up keep spamming your mail box.
Then we have the **** medical certificate that is a typical French requierement and doesn't have a real equivalent in UK. BTW beeing FISS licencesed is not sufficient anymore as the new wording says that only a French license or one that has medical requierement are valid
You have four options
- get one from a doctor and pay £20 for the pleasure of it
- Fake one
- Write a disclaimer 'je sous signe blah blah... '
- Claim that you national license has medical requierement
Choosing FIC or Open, another of my pet hate of French races. Its not like they are 10000 people that they couldn't group everyone in one race... but again according to the rules, everyone can go open (and do a shorter distance) or go with the elite race and look silly unless you are called Gavin or Hans. Foreign people will not be classified for FIC purposes unless they have a French license. Fair enough. Not sure what happens if the event is a Wic-Fic one.

Hi Alex,
I'm going to do one or more FIC races this year (the one in Plouezec for sure since I'm in town at that time anyway). I'm dutch, not licenced and don't have a medical certificate (it's WAY more than £20 here btw).
The med. cert. I can get, but can I race with the elite without a license in your opinion? I think I'm fast enough to at least keep up, I was of "almost Hans level" last season.
What am I to do? The FIC rules don't exactly make it easy for guys like me...
My girlfriend is french so I can pay from a french bank account, that's the only plus in my situation I guess...
Cheers,
Andy. |

Alex, Thanks for the info. I've passed it on.
Greazer, why not go to a French docteur with your girlfriend?
It's only €20 over here.
But the Marathon is available only to licenced riders.
A French licence is €30. I can check with the Fed if it's possible to get a licence without being member of a club if you want. (You'll need a med cert for the licence though) Or you can get a Dutch one (Maybe it'll need a med cert too)

| I doubt that you can be licensed in more than country at one time surely... |

| Of course you can. I assume you will have a primary license but look as FISS rules. Overseas licenses can be used to race in FISS races so many times in a year, above that you need to join FISS. By joining you will become licensed, hence two licenses. |

you can race in elite, there are no issues but you wont be classified in the FIC .
At least that my understanding of it.
To get a french license you will need a medical certificate as well. |

That probably depends on which federation. It's more of a right to race as when Fred joined FISS. I would have thought that nationality/residency rules would apply for which one has priority in an international situation as you can't race for two countries at the same time. More like being a member of multiple clubs but being registered to the federation as with one. Eg Matt CW at British Indoor Champs. |

But he doesn't have a Dutch licence
And being Dutch shouldn't be a problem, I'm English and have a French licence. Maybe not having a French address would be a problem, but
the in-laws might have a French address if needed
Karine
PS. I've asked the Fed. Just waiting for the reply.
Still the med cert to sort out once a year. |
