So, one more weekend where Merten and I did a nice Northern German race. This time it was in Stade (~50km away from Hamburg). The event was devided into three races: 5km, 10 km and a half marathon, each taking place on a 2,3k lap around the old-town of Stade.
Merten and I only did the 10k race 'cause this was part of the Northern League and the weather forecast was really bad...
The first race to happen was the 5k race where it rained a lot. Time for me to put the rain wheels on (Hyper +G).

After the 5k race it stopped raining and when we had our start for the 10k 45 minutes afterwards is was nearly dry again  Smile
At the start I had the same problem as always: my start is not good. There were 24 girls racing and I had the feeling that the were all ahead of me. After 1k some girls had a fall and I could jump on their paceline as the got up again.
I stayed with the lot for the rest of the race which was quite interesting in points of tactics: nearly all the other girls are skating in the Northern League as well and it was important to get some points.
The race was more or less exciting for me but the finish was cool: the finish line was a 500m downhill. Some girls were breaking away and I did the right thing in following. Well at the end I was the first one of my pack to finish and I got good points for my team   Cool
And I felt really mighty...

The results:

Hilger, Michaela Halstenbeker TS
7th in age category
average speed 28,60
time:0:20:58
place overall: 11

Schüler, Merten Skate-Connection.de
13th in age category
average speed 32,34
time: 0:18:33
place overall: 42

nice race for me  Wink

Awesome! The organisers had a local TV station there - they made quite a nice shot of the race! Featuring Michi's special LSST outfit, me, and of course all the others who were there.

See here: http://www.stade-tv.de/stade/stade.html

(Movie starts straight away, I had some trouble watching at first, if all goes wrong dig out the URL from the source Wink)

Thanks Merten,  nice film - good to see Michi flying the team flag at the races.  Nice slo-mo of your three man pace-line.

I enjoyed watching the video and looking out for both of you. A few of your 15 minutes of fame? Smile

Good to see the London blue, Michi. After the Hunsruck marathon we were talking to a lady who said that people are beginning to recognise it now.
