That's a great link Adam!
I was going to say... and then found this to back it up....

Factors which have minimal or no effect on the rate of recovery:
Gentle exercise during recovery.
Spacing of meals and snacks (provided the total amount of carbohydrate is adequate).
Other food at meals (eg fat- or protein-rich foods) provided that the total amount of carbohydrate is adequate. |
Protein is not related to muscle recovery, that's carbohydrates to help the muscle replenish glycogen. However, it is important to have to help your muscles use the exercise to grow and become stronger, as they use the protein to rebuild themselves. |

I've read that from an endurance point of view pretty much everyone's normal diet contains more than enough protein that supplements are simply not necessary.
Carbs, on the other hand, need some rather careful attention to fuel exercise, speed recovery and minimise any impact to your immune system. |

Cheers guys
The creatine PDF (63 Kb) http://www.ais.org.au/nutrition/documents/SupCreatine.pdf
glucosamine PDF (54 Kb)
http://www.ais.org.au/nutrition/documents/SupGlucosamine.pdf
are interesting too
I'm increasing the amount of weights that i'm doing to increase my mass at the moment (not for performance reasons) and was looking at whether taking extra protien would be benfial as I've lost quite a bit of body mass from skating.
i'm thinking some sort of recovery drink is woth trying for a little while especially when i've been out skating late and can't be bothered to eat properly when i get home (yes, i know that i should not do this but am usally too tired at these points)
sodding expensive though, so will monitor my performance when taking to see what difference it makes

In that context, I would say it would be beneficial to up your protein intake. When I'm training hard, and doing stregth work I make sure I'm eating about 100g protein a day. I always take 25g of protein from supplement after hard training. You will definitely notice the body mass loss otherwise as your body doesn't have enough food to rebuild the muscles from... |
