OK, so worth bringing the Camelbak as a just in case, possibly.
Also - anyone listen to music as they race? I imagine it's not a great idea 'cos you won't know if people are getting close and whatnot... |

Correct about that, i got ticked off about trying to take an MP3 player to a race by a semi-pro skater. |

Tried it once, took out the headphones and never put them back... Not too sure it works in a paceline. |

The problem with listenning music while racing is it can impact badly your performance, for example I can't skate efficiently when listening music because I can't hear my breathing.
I've found out years ago while practicing athletics at high level than I was definitely not able to run with headphones, in my opinion while racing you have to pay attention to your body.
It goes like that for me, but music could be a good stimulation, and you also have to ear other people especially fasters ones coming fast behind (on several laps races)
Ps : I like to listen music while training but only during long skates, or slow recovery training |

Just reading a few of the comments so thought I might add some of my own!
With regard to water and marathons, you should be drinking plenty of water on the lead up to the competition/race. That means all day prior to the race. You may want to add a little something extra such as Maxim Isostar etc. Most of the top racers take a small bottle wich goes inside the skinsuit at the top of your back.
Custom boots are always better as you get greater control over the frame especially if your racing on 100mm wheels as these frame sits slightly high than 84mm. some frames use an aluminium extrusion which is slightly wider at the contact point with the boot, again this gives better control over the skate and is more stable. Vincent Henry is now doing moulds for Bont boots and I would trust him to do this!
Listening to music is a good way of taking your mind off the race. When I used to do 1 1/2hr endurance sessions a few years ago, the music was a nessescity to stop you going out of your mind, and depending on what you listen to it can relly motivate you to beat others
Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!! |

Yes, I also tend to take a cup of water. |

| The LS skinsuits have a pocket in the back. You can get those flexy (flat, soft) cartons that can fit in there (you can fit a bottle in too but it's not quite so comfortable). I'd tend to take two half full rather than one. Nothing more annoying than fumbling around and dropping your only drink... |

| IMO one in the pocket with glucose, and one stuffed down the top of your skinsuit. |
