She hasn't specified a two week deadline, but it's best to your entries in by 28th May. That's four races on the day and trying something new and possibly interesting with the relay. Looks like a random draw from each category. Could be funny seeing big people trying to push little people and vice versa. It's only a week after our race. The track racing calendar gets a little packed at this time of year. |

| Actually its not the first time its been done, South Woodham has held this "random relay" at least twice before, as i drew Gavin Winter and Chanel Moore the first time, and Stafford and Matt Price the second.... and it is fun! and you get to work with skaters you wouldnt normally skate with! |

Well rain didn't stop play, which was nice. Lots of stacks, particularly in the cat 1s. I hope everyone is alright in 2 weeks time for the 1st round of the outdoor british champs in Birmingham.
8 racers from the team including new member Linda. Nobody preregistered so you managed to swell the coffers of SWF a bit more. I'm sure they are greatfull but it does give us officials quite a lot to do with changes to the program. Try getting them in before hand in future please.
Funniest thing of the day for me was PeterC racing in odd skates. One Powerslide and one Bont. How ecentric and excellent that was. |

Racing was so-so. None of the heart-stopping moments we saw in Cat 1 and 2's that we had in our race last week. Lots of stacks (only slightly more than last week). Lots of us Cat. 5's got bumped up to Cat. 4's which was better as there were more adults and less intimidating 11 year olds! Gold and silver for Tom and Ray in the category races, some gruelling-but-great -to-watch racing from Hans and Peter.
The last relay race was seriously fun! Mixed categories, great fun, great experience, the highlight of the day for me. Congratulations to Linda, in her first race as LSST and FISS member! And 5-year old Anthony, driven as always, got silver in the rat races. |

LOL
Pity I never made it ... well, actually not a pity, was a good thing - my leg has been giving me grief since before the weekend, so have been off-skates. Going to see the physio today. |

New cunning plan, because we always turn left I put my faster Bont boot on the right foot, this will be augmented at the next meet when I go for 84's on the right boot and 80s on the left. Phase three is 100 on the left and 84s on the right to neutralise the banking. All the top skaters will be trying next year, honest.
For those that wondered, the one of the threads on one boot wouldn't take a bolt, hence the slightly strange setup.
Thanks to Tom for the try of you set up, perhaps I should skip 84s all together and go for 100s. |

| Peter, I have a helicoil thread repair kit if you want to give it a shot. I don't think the thread is a standard size though, so you may need to get a new bolt as well. |

Thanks for that, the strange thing is that there is a thread in there, and it looks okay, but it seems it doesn't go all the way to the end, so I can't get the bolt in at all... I think the thread was either cut from inside the boot and the tap didn't go all the way to the bottom, or it's an insert that was put in upside down. So a tap should do the trick, and will mean I have the same bolts all the way through.
Given the price of the boots, (£100) I'm I wouldn't be too surprised by either.
BTW I was amazed at the price of a Belotti Sento set up Dave K was offering, frames and 8 wheels for less that I would think the frames cost themselves... Left me with a tough choice between 84s and 100s. |

| Just had one of my more entertaining lunch hours, went home and made a tool to clean up/cut the first few threads on the back of my powerslide boot, good news, I now have a pair of speed skates again. If any metric people need there M6 threads cleaned I'll try and leave it in my bag of skating stuff. |

| Poor Adrian... apparently the fall he had on Sunday was pretty bad. He's in hospital with a broken thumb, and waiting to find out if they're going to have to operate. Damn that sucks! |

Well so long as he doesn't have a french doctor putting his hand into months of physio with no skating then he should be fine for the marathon. Not sure about british champs in less than 2 weeks though. I doubt he was going to compete anyway no veterans did last year.
Hope he fixes up soon though. |
