Looks good but not totally sure whether I will do this one as I missed the pre-registration date and plan on doing a hard session at Richmond Sat; who else is doing this?

Two gongs for the team: not a bad showing.  I'm not going to go into detail about my races because this is a family-friendly forum.

Incidentally, if you head down the A10 from Great Cambridge Junction, after about 1.5km you get to a junction  where you take the left-hand lane to go left, and the right-hand lane to go right.  There is a big sign to help you with this decision: it shows a left-turn symbol in the left lane and a right-turn symbol in the right lane.  It doesn't, however, tell you where you might end up should you take one path or the other, and I feel this is something of a failing because if you guess wrong and turn right you may never see another sign saying "A10" ever again.

Home -> Tatem: 12km
Tatem -> home: 22km

I swear I'm getting more exercise going to and from Tatem park than I ever do when I get there.

A nice sunny day, a third from Peter and Tanya in the cat 2 and 3 races, Peter was 3rd in all 3 of his races, now that's a consistently good result. Nice teamwork from Dan and Peter in the 3k cat 2 race, Dan leading off on the sprints. And Gav got his thing together in the last mixed cat 1 and 2 race, lovely to see 3 blues in the top 7 or so.

The races were short though, great for the kids, but the cat 1 and 2 races really weren't that exciting to watch.

Hi NashaP,

Did you think that the races were too short for the top Cats?
Perhaps they could have been a bit longer - with a good showing of your LSST crew who are used to the distances there would certainly be the stamina there.
I must say that I really enjoyed the racing, especially the Cat 2 skaters - it was nice to see a full crowd of men powering around, with some new additions to the fold which was great to see. Cat 1 was really depleted, with 2 top skaters missing from both Birmingham, Powerslide and yourselves. James Ashby is always breathtaking, but first place in those races, (especially with Gav still on the mend with his knee) was a bit of a foregone conclusion.
I also think that all the skaters who took tarmac home with them probably found it quite exciting enough lol

cheers

Cherie

Speaking for me personally, I can't stand 500m races.  One mistake and it's all over.  (Though admittedly if the mistake is like today's superman dive, it doesn't really matter how long the race is, it's all over anyway)

The 3k is  by far my preferred event of the track races I've done, though I've not yet had the opportunity for a 5k.  I'm just a marathon skater at heart, really

Ahhh, yes, I took it on autopilot, but was then questioned, so yes it's important you turn left there, and no I can't remember if it's signposted, where did you end up, Heathrow?

A bit short, and if I'd drawn a 2nd row start with slower starter in front of me I would have been unhappy, but in all my races I was able to get good track position early and then keep it, the chances for getting back from a bad start in a short race are few, but it does favour those that can start and don't like the tactical messing about the higher cats can have.

It's good to have some varity, and as a "kids" club it's right for SWF to go for it. (But if I'd lost I wmight be thinking differnetly)

I notice the Cats appear to have changed a bit, is this a new policy?
Cat 1 is still what it was (despite the loss of some of the big guns) seem to be similar speeds with Cat 2 being the "big blokes" cat and Cat 3 the physically smaller. I only say this because some of the people who beat me (twice) in our fist meet at Tatem are down in 3, is this as a result of the last Brum race or are people asking to be moved about?

I don't mind at all, this is not a complaint, it's nice to know if you are racing shoulder to shoulder with people that you are not going to be leaning on someone as fast but pysically much smaller, and the racing is still as close.
