As a means to get accustomed to my speed boots, I'm thinking of taking the frames off and wearing them around the house.
Is this a good idea? Anyone else have any tips for climatising? |

I have done that in the past. It's okay on carpet but you will feel a bit toes up which is not good. Best thing to do is put some short frames on them and wear thems like that with wheels on. Then you can wear them on carpet, lino, tiled, wood and laminate floors and get used to the boot.
The really best thing to do is skate in them and wearing them with frames on is the next best thing. |

I have been skating with my new speed boots at home every evening when I came from work to get myself used to it. From the fridge to my computer and back, to the bathroom... everywhere. I think it was good practise.
I once tried to use my boots without the frames but did not like it too much: when you "walk" with the shoes your feet make different movement ("scrolling feet" - I don't know how to express it right). Consequently your feet may feel wrong in the shoes due to a movement that you normaly don't do (and don't need) while skating.
So I think leaving the frames on and skate is the better idea. |

I've tried mines without the frame all nights for a week and I didn't have any probs. Then put the frames and stkated on the park and after 1/2 hour I started having blisters ...
I thought it was a good idea but I've found out that the pressure points are very different when u skating (at least for me) |

Thanks for the advice all!
Wearing that at home frameless was just an idea I had to speed up the settling in process. If I were to wear them at home with frames and wheels, I don't think it will go down well with the rest of the family.
I think that I'll stick with the original plan and put a smaller frame on and street skate around for prolonged periods of time, on a more frequent basis to get used to the boot. Then after a while (or for Mike's LSS) switch back to long frames.
Rick has already warned me about street skating with them using smaller frames / less wheels, but I guess that'll fast track me into getting used to them |

I do not understand why one would want to wear the skate boots at home without frame and wheels. If the shell is well made, it is not going to stretch... |

The reason is two fold:
- one thought it might help, although evidently, one is wrong.
- one does not want to be homeless due to leaving wheel trails on the carpet

| I imagine the hard bottom of the boot will leave far more damage than wheels would. |

I normally skate, cook, watch TV, eat, shower and sleep in my skates.
No, not really... but I do skate inside my flat when I feel like. Of course it is not all that exciting. |

True, but I can blame that on someone else, whereas rolling around leaves more attributable evidence. |

Personally, I've fallen down my stairs in shoes, so I'm not gonna wear skates round the house..
I have put some wooden flooring down in the (or rather what will be) dining room, so I can skate in there. |
