Anyone fancy spinning tonight, and know of a gym where non-members can go for a class?
(I was planning to gatecrash Tanya's regular Tuesday night spinning class, but apparently it's cancelled because it's Christmas week.) |

| someone else is going tomorrow night. I can let you know who / where if they don't check here, but I guess you don't want to go on a wednesday. |

You can join the Serpentine spin class tonight. Its at 7:45 PM at Fitness First, Covent Garden, Bedford Street, WC2.
Just tell them on the door that you are there for the Serpentine spin class. If you leave some id with them they will give you a locker key. The cost is 3 pounds, paid to the instructor, who's a Serpentine triathlon guy. |

Funnily enough, I rang the Covent Garden Fitness First to ask about spinning, and they told me I could join their classes but would need to pay their £15 day-rate. (For use of all their facilities.)
Thanks for the top tip.

Roger, is this available to non-Serp members anytime, or was it just because it was a quiet pre-Christmas session?
(And are there generally spare bikes, or does it sometimes fill right up?)
Ta!

Its for Serpentine members only, so I was probably being a bit cheeky inviting you, but I knew it would be very quiet just before Christmas. Its usually quite a bit busier but never full. I expect it would be ok to go again, but if you are going to go regularly then I think you probably need to join the Serpentine.
The Serpentine are also organising a spinning session for Saturdays where you take your own bike and trainer, and spin away whilst watching a film. The session lasts up to 4 hours |

| Blimey, that sounds like torture! I'd much rather go for a ride out in the country than get hot, extremely sweaty, and bored indoors. |

Thanks, Roger.
That is the Serpentine Running Club, right?
Mike - fancy some mountain-biking sometime?
Glenn is up for it, and I'm sure there are a few MTBs hanging about in other LSST homes... |

That's the one. As well as running they also do a lot of triathlon, hence the spinning; plus they also run several training rides (on-road) most weeks. |

| I have and MTB at home. The frame is a little large for a lot of serious off road work but it has been out on the odd yomp. |

Pah! I don't even have any suspension.
(Or rather, I have suspension, but it won't fit on the bike.)
Was thinking forestry trails in Dorking - any other ideas? |

| Nothing major. Used to do laps of woodland circuits when I was a sprog also building sites and all manner of stuff I don;t think I could get away with now. Need something with a few bridleways as bikes are not legit on footpaths and soil erosion can be a bit of a problem at this time of year so rocky trails are best. |
