I'm spending two weeks in Switerzland and traveling internally to these races. My flights for this time are outlined below. I will be having a two week skate around switerzland and may be visiting the World Inline Centre. I may return home via Bergamo Milan for this one (booking return was cheaper than a single).

this is the nice marathon where everyone gets good times isn't it? e.g. more down hill than uphill?
Me might just have a go..... |

See last year's thread. It's only 13 pages
(Feel free to summarise it, too ;-) |

| You get on a big plane which flies to Switzerland, then you travel to a place called Engadin. You put on some skates and a helmet and skate down the hill. They give you a medal in return for you handing over a sum of money for registration. Then you fly home again. Sound tempting Marty? |

It's all downhill
me likeee very much! Are you sure this isn't called the "Martymarathonwishlistcometrue Marathon 2007"?
Sooo.. How steep are these downhills? will I be wishing I was wearing my FSK's with a heel brake. or lamenting not wearing my bling skates...?
I so want to do this, but as my usual Hotel Buddy is doing her 2 week Swiss tour I'm in need of travelling companions.... |

| Can someone confirm the Engadin date is now 30 June (same as Le Mans weekend?), and not 23 as stated earlier in this thread? |

It does look as though it's to be 30h June. Not published on the SIC site yet but the Swiss Inline Teams website seems to have all the details. Tanya should be able to confirm as she has contacted the organisers.
I'm probably going to Engadin again rather than Le Mans as it'll be a better warm up and not so knackering for the European Masters marathon the following weekend (Hannover-Celle) Looking forward to doing that race again. |

| If you see the race profile, the overall high average speed doesn't have so much to do with the downhills as with the valley winds. |

I assume that people will be leaving on the 29th? Unfortunately and fortunately, that's my last day at work - so I can leave early for a late afternoon / early evening flight.
I've had a quick look at the costs with Ryan Air...the return journey doesn't look so good...either really early or really late looks cost effective.
Has anyone booked tickets for this yet?

FYI:
My* plans...
Travel stuff:
--> Out
- Book a flight to Zurich with BA for Friday 29th June. Either late afternoon / early evening
- Train from Zurich to St Moritz on Friday evening
--> In
- Train from St Moritz to Zurich on Sunday during the day some time.
- Return flight will be 19:15 from Zurich with BA.
Hotel stuff:
- Unfortunately, as with last year, in the YouthHostel, Sat and Sun night needs to be booked
- Therefore will book Fri - Sun, yet only stay on Fri and Sat night.
- 4-bed room costs €36 per night, per person
I'm looking to book early next week, once I've found times that I can manage.
* And likely to be Tanya's, Glenn's and Andy's too... |
