So I'm going to make an effort to get out to Tatem this year, and I seem to recall that it's due to start happening next week now we're on BST - who meets when and where and what do you do?

I believe it's been Tuesdays in previous years, so I have to ask if anyone's interested in doing Thursdays instead?  Reason being, I think there are more LFNS marshals than Rollerdisco regulars in the club these days, and it'd be nice to carry on doing route cheks on Tuesday evenings.  If that's not realistic, please don't think I'm carping.

Tatem will be starting up again as of this coming week!! 6:30 start time. Now that the clocks have changed that gives us decent training until at least 7:30.

Tuesdays will still be the regular session, as it works better for a training week schedule when most weekends there are races on the Sunday. It's better to get the track work in early in the week, and Thursday for another heavy muscular endurance session.

That said, there is nothing stopping us going over to Tatem on Thursdays as well! I plan on going over there probably every 2nd week on the Thursday, alternating with Richmond when possible. Also, Thursdays are better for Nic and Adrian Wordsworth who are both keen to come along when they can. Having their technique and training advice is always fantastic and extremely useful.

For the less serious, Dan's point is a bit more valid than Gav's. For those that marshal:
Mon - LondonSkate route check
Tue - LFNS route check
Wed - LondonSkate or Suicide
Thu - day off/back up for LFNS
Fri - LFNS

Considering the number of members that marshal Tuesday is rarely available. We either have to skip route checks or use Thursday as Tatem day. Weekends are often busy too.

No reason why those that don't marshal LFNS can't train at Tatem on Tuesday, it just might be a little undersubscribed.

However, let's put it to the members and see what they want. I am turning this into a poll.

Because of my work etc I can't always make it on Tuesday or Thursday but would be happy to meet up with anyone when I am available.  Perhaps there should be a both option  in the poll.  From the point of view of training I think I alwys found a 2 hour session at Tatem of more use than a routecheck.

PS - Thanks for the refined poll Rick  Very Happy Quick work

Depends where in central London you are starting from and on how long you have to wait for a bus from Turnpike Lane. Can be very quick. Tube wise is about 15-18 mins from Kings Cross on the Piccadilly Line to Turnpike Lane (6 stops) Then it's about a 10 minute or less bus journey from there. I have never waited more than about 6 minutes for a bus but I might have been lucky so from King'sX about 30-40mins. Not been for a few months so it might be a bit off but it is quicker than driving there.

Oh, I don't doubt it.  My reason for attending the Tuesday RC has more to do with knowing where I'm going on Friday (I find it usually helps) than its training benefit per se.

Although it has also been an easy way to rack up the distance a bit in winter.  And I'm sure it's still more use than the LondonSkate will be when that starts up again.  Hey, do you think I can do the LondonSkate (as a punter) and still claim Wednesday as a rest day?  I doubt it's really much more effort than 90 minutes walking.

Miaow. You could always offer to marshal no such thing as not enough blockers.

TBH I have claimed LS wednesdays as rest days since I have been Marshal 1. I stopped bending my knees because I didn't need to developed a sloppy style and slowed down for a few years. I'd rather not do it at all then do it as a punter. On the otherhand, Monday route checks kick arse.

I don't take Dan's comment as a bitchy comment at all, or a reflection on the LondonSkate speed. Given I've marshalled 95% of LFNS's this year, I'm really looking forward to Wednesdays as I can skate as a punter, have a good natter with my friends without thinking 'has someone covered that junction' or 'where am I going again'. More of a social stretching of legs, it's certainly hard to consider skating a street skate as a punter as 'training', unless I'm concentrating on my foot setdown or my kneebend or whatever.

Not what I was told last time I asked.  Do you think they were put off by my heelbrake? ;-)

No, it's just that if I start marshalling Wednesdays as well I know I'll get sucked into volunteering for other LondonSkate stuff too, and there are only so many free hours.  Plus it's just nice to skate socially from time to time and talk to people, and it's got to be marginally better for my health than skipping the skate and just turning up for the pub.

[ Edit: Nats has expressed this much more gracefully than I managed ]

I've voted both. Either way, I could make it hopefully.
I just hope that if it is likely to make a noticeable difference in attendance then I'd prefer to attend when there's more skaters. And if there are 2 sessions then I might even push the boat as far as trying to go to both. *watch these words. cough cough*

Tuesdays are good for me, since I've largely planned my calendar to include going to tatem on Tuesday evenings and teaching on Thursdays.

Looks like with the eithers we have enough for people to train on either day. Which is cool. Let's make both days Tatem days. I'll be at some on Thursday unless that week's route check is rained off and rescheduled to then.
