Hope to be there too.
I'd like to look at racing technique as a part of the session. |

I was going to ask about that in the "Ask Adrian" section. Unfortunately I'm not going to make it down tomorrow (in fact, until the sessions start a bit later in the evening, I'm not sure I'll be able to make any ).
Would someone be able to summarise what's discussed, please? |

Great session Adrian. Thank you, learnt a lot. Sorry, forgot to ask whether you would be holding a session this Sunday, as Tatem is free this Sunday.

Glenn - I'm glad you enjoyed the session. We'll be doing more of that sort of thing now it's getting a bit warmer.
I'm not planning to be over at Tatem this Sunday, as I'm hoping to spend the day with my family.
There's no reason that you and the others couldn't go and practice what we were doing last night. Practice makes perfect ! |

So what was done last night...?
I think I will try to start coming down after work on Tuesday...I think Dan mentioned Tatem is quite accessible if I can get to Liverpool St. |

Really excellent session last night - it was good to be back on skates. Thanks Adrian for the training.
Adrian began with a post-mortem of Sunday's racing.
After that we started with a warm up. Then broke into two groups (faster and not-so-fast) and did sets of variable speed lapping - each skater on the front for two laps, first lap steady pace, second lap at high speed.
Then we practiced starts - running, duck footed between the two lines on the back straight before skating away.
Then we climbed over the fence and went home after two very rewarding hours. |

Can we have a few more technical details on the 'fence climbing'?
I'm assuming this falls under 'Race Tactics - How to overhaul the opposition'
Sounds great, sad I had to miss it |

Cheers Adrian, naturally we'll be practicing what you taught us - so hopefully, we'll be a little better the next time you see us.
Ed, as Ray indicated, session was broken in three:
1. Recap on the weekend. In particular, on the rules and what the various flags mean.
2. Accelerations and passing, with good explanation on technique on accelerations.
3. Starts (which is where most of team suffered on the weekend (especially me)) – technique and drills to improve starts.
(There was also a 10 min warm up and warm down).
This session was more aimed at learning rather than training hard. I understand that Adrian is going to give some thought about how to balance the needs of those who need to learn viz viz those who want to train hard - perhaps alternating each week (I'm more than happy with either).
Would really recommend you come along on Tuesday nights (though I know it’s hard, and I will find it harder when I get busier at work).
Yes, you can catch the over-land from Liverpool Street to Silver Street – then it’s a quick skate along Silver Street to Tatem. Check the time-tables to see if it works out for you.
