I commute to work and back everyday which comes to about 100 miles a week depending if i do the fns and then it's just 80. I have a kona mtb.
I was thinking about getting a racer but the roads are so crap around east london it would cost me a fortune in buckled wheels
As for the enjoyment side of it well, cycling around central london is not my idea of fun and is kinda stressfull especially with the way buses and taxi cabs drive this for me is purely a way of keeping fit during the week and also saving money. My bike for the present time is merely a tool. |

Very impressive mileage, it sounds like you do rather more than I! Did I read that right as you cycle in to do the streetskate, Tim? If so, where do you leave your bike? I've always been too chicken to lock my bike in the park and leave it there, not my pride and joy anyway.
Oh, London traffic seems nasty and intimidating to many, but there are ways of making it much more enjoyable:
* Cyclecraft by John Franklin (clicky here) helped me a lot.
* Perhaps an onroad lesson with a cycle instructor, often provided free or cheaply by your local council.
* An AirZound can make car users pay more attention to you. I'm about to buy another two, one for my other bike and one for the wife's.
I now love surfing the traffic in London, though I didn't like it when I first started. |

| I own a bike. Did the London to Southen ride with it last year with Rick. Which I'm very proud of. But... it has been barely used since. I'd like to do a bit more cycling over the winter (Richmond Park Sats or Suns anyone?). |

Had one back in Spain (those were the days ...), Been thinking about getting one and after seeing some comments here I've decided to buy me one
Got 7 Miles to work so If I go there every day it will be a good way of keeping fit (Also will save me a package for not using the train). |

Hi mike..no i don't ride to the fns, i catch the tube to work and the fns if the weathers good, hence just 80 miles that week.
I like the sound of the airzound though I could definitely do with that when cycling through old street and hackney

| Yeah, AirZounds are wicked. I've had cars do a little swerve back and forth after a blast on mine, the driver shat themselves so much. Probably thought they didn't look properly and a lorry was there. |

Now I've got a reason to get a bike. My Polo was shot in the back wednesday evening, now the insurance of the other driver will tell me on monday if the money I get back will be enough to buy a used bicycle.
