Has anyone skated on one; specifically the one in Palmer Park in Reading?

What are the pros and cons for doing so? Is the banking likely to be an issue?

Main reason I'm asking is because I need more practice in Speed skate and I find skating indoors just too restrictive.  Finding somewhere where I can go regularly would also be a plus and as I live pretty near to this it might be worthwhile i.e. good chance to start putting in some distance ( I'm quite new to this speed skating lark as lemming and ruff know)

Any pointers about skating on one would be most appreciated.

Tim - I went there and so did Hans and Farhana.  The banking is too steep for it to be useful unless you're really motoring.  I also cramped up big time there (don't know if this was lack of fluid or the banking causing me issues) but either way, it's not ideal.

My company is holding some event in Herne Hill in a velodrome tomorrow. It's supposed to be able 6 miles aways from where I live. But I didn't get organised early enough so I probably won't be going. Doesn't look like a lot of banking.

I've seen Herne Hill but not skated it, I'd say most velodrome banking would be much too much for me, I find tatem a pain, that would be way too much.

I've skated the one at palmer park, in fact I've broke 2 or 3 british records there.... in fact the british track championships were held there twice!

and from what i remember it was fast! (i got 31.51 in my 300m when i was 11/12)
