Hey guys,
Let me know if anyone is looking to sell a bike. I don't need anything fancy other than that it be an upgrade on my current bike (so the gears and brake have to work).
Oh, and it has to fit me of course (around 5'7"), and would be nice if it was lighter than my current bike, which is not difficult unless it's made from lead.
I'm used to riding a road bike, but wouldn't mind a hybrid either. Budget flexible, but I'm not looking to be the next Lance Armstrong |

| Hmmm... For some reason I approach bike buying the same as car buying (let someone else take the hit on depreciation, then buy a niceish one and keep it for 10 years). |

Van- I tend to agree with you there but it helps if you have a very good idea of what you what and are prepared to spend.
It's well worth trauling ebay regularly. |

Except the risk of buying something knackered or stolen (or both) is much greater and you get no warranty.
Replacing a crank, chainring & cassette will cost you £100 alone.
That bike, at £280, is an absolute steal, and will serve you well as a commuter. Zero cool points, too - fit a rack and you wouldn't even need to lock it up (kidding, but you know what I mean). |

And I guess at that price, it'll be hard for you to get it that much cheaper 2nd hand. |

Well yeah, what's the chances of finding something that fits, with brand new drive train and mud-guards second hand < £280
The nexus groupset on that is worth £200 odd on its own (hub, roller brakes, STI, chain, leavers) |

I have a road bike I wanted to sell (too small for me, otherwise I'd keep it for myself as a winter trainer/commuter).
Needs changing the brakes' barrel adjusters, so I'd give it away for approx 100 quid.
Don't have pictures at the mo and am out of the country, back in November. |

| Yeah, that might be a wee bit big...or he could do what I've done to Diego's new bike - trim it down to size using a hacksaw and some welding gear. |

| Diego, assuming Van isn't also going to invest in a rack, I might be interested depending on it's spec and suitability ( vs my current bike... ). |

Hi Barrie,
I'll get in touch with you in case Van reckons the bike is not siutable to him.
I'm currently out of the UK, but will take some measures of the bike as soon as I'm back and post them here, just in case. |
