Hi guys,
Am I right in assuming most speed skaters use 110mm wheels?
Im going to order a whole load to flog and wasnt sure what sizes to get.
Hope you dont mind my asking.
Ill give you a shout when I get them, I'm hoping by buying in bulk I should be able to sell them pretty cheaply.

Hey Phil!
110mm mainly, but still a few on 100mm.
Wheels (brands, type and durometer) are quite a personal choice, so it might be worth letting people know what you're intending to get.
Last thing you want is to buy a whole bunch of wheels that no one has a great interest in, and then will have to flog even cheaper just to get rid of them!
What am I saying?!?! Yeah, go ahead |

Well I was looking at getting a few sets of these:
http://www.gyrowheels.com/product/product_road_02.php
Im not sure what the price is going to be, it depends how many I order etc.
But as for sizes, I was going to geta few of each in each colour, but mostly get 110mm. But if you reckon nobody really uses the other sizes, I dont want to waste my money. |

I had a feeling it would be those. If it's LSST you're looking to target, I'd definitely try get prices together first and test the water by asking who'd be interested before committing any of your hard earned dosh.
I know Naomi sold a few of these, me being one of them. The wheels are ok, but I wouldn't get them again...plus the wheels were 1mm smaller than they were meant to be (109mm).
I believe the general consensus is that in comparison to the other wheels, they're not highly rated, but if the price was good enough, they might make for a good training wheel / street.
Good luck! |

Ok thanks for the advice Ed. That is interesting they were 1mm smaller than advertised, cheeky!
I am trying to get hold of some Matter wheels, but they are not replying to my emails. So for now it looks like ill be getting just Gyro. What brands are everyone after these days?
Ill let you know prices as soon as I get a reply.

I've used one set for marshaling (Green Orbitron's IIRC), from Naomi, to try them out etc., I wouldn't go out of my way to get them again.
They actually feel really nice to skate in, smooth and silky... but grip degrades with wear ( albeit mine are now about 105mm... ), but worse, with temperature, making them worse for marshaling than training ( due to braking heating them up ).
I've no idea what the other models are like though, the red and black ones look pretty damn cool, but it'd take a few positive reviews for me to be tempted ( and I've got a little collection of wheels already... ) |

Im looking at a price of about £24.50 for 5 wheels @ 110mm, how does that sound to you guys?
Is that cheap or expensive compared to the wheels you usually get?
Cheers, Phil. |

In answer to your previous question, brands are Matter, Bont and MPC. Hyper have just come out with a new range, which looks interesting - they were very popular in the past.
As for pricing of the Gyro, that would be just under £40 for a set of 8 wheels? Price is definitely attractive, it's now a case of whether people would want the brand.
I can't speak for others, but seeing as I'm stocked up for wheels for next year, and probably the one after, I'd be a no. I know a few people bought some dirt cheap wheels at Cologne, so not sure who else would be left.
If I didn't have my supply, and I needed a set for street skates and mucking around in, I'd probably give them a punt.
Hopefully someone other than Barrie and myself will get back to you |

5 wheels!?
440mm+ frames anyone?
FWIW: If I wasn't stocked-up myself I might well interested at that kind of price-point, to see of any other models are better than those I have.
I think Sparky had some harder ones, would be interesting to see what he made of them, though he might not have much to compare to... |

If they are Gyro and you moved the decimal towards the 2 (£2.45), maybe. Otherwise you're alright where you are. |

Hm. sounds like Gyro's are not too popular.
Ill buy a few sets if anyone wants some at that price let me know, but ill see if i can get hold of Matter wheels / hyper instead.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
