I've invested in some warmer socks from Condor, but after the frozen feet experienced during Sunday's session I'm also wondering if it is possible to buy a pair of those neoprene boot covers that work for 3pt Bonts?

Any idea where I can order some from?

I got mine from decathlon - they're actually cycle shoe covers, but they mostly work.  (They can "ride up" a bit at the back and require pulling back down periodically)

I just tried an old pair of Powerslide boot covers on my 3-pt skates and they are Ok except that there is not enough clearance on the second wheel to put the strap through.  They fit well enough otherwise that its not really a problem.

Cheers guys - I'll try my luck at Decathlon during the week I think (and will bring my skates). I didn't realise that I could use bike ones.

Do they make a big difference to toe warmth?

what socks did you get Ed? I can't face the pain of ice cold feet anymore either. I have some woollen bridgedales that are thin enough to go in bonts but didn't keep my feet any warmer  Sad

Srsly, wear more clothes.  When your trunk is warmer, you'll have considerably less issue with your feet.

have to agree with mike on this one.  i had socks made out of tight material on on Sunday, and my feet were toasty - rest of me was overheating though - the hat might have been a bit over the top!

Personally I think Bont Jets are not that warm in cold temperatures no matter how many base layers you are wearing, My whole body was really toasty (I shed layers because I was hot) but my toes were still frozen.

Definitely interested in what luck you have in Decathlon EdP, my Endura shoe covers slide up the heel to much.

It's true, Bonts are not the warmest, but then they aren't winter skates, LOL!  I was fine this whole weekend with some Endura baabaa socks and plenty of warm kit though.

I think Vapours are prolly warmer than Jets because of the quality of the materials but I'll take your tip on the merino socks, cheers mate.

Another tip I was told about is not to put too many thick socks on.  Reduce the blood supply by doing this, and it's counter productive, you end up getting super cold feets.

I must admit my Vaypors seem very temperature neutral, never particularly hot in summer nor cold in winter.  I'm sceptical as to why, maybe my diabetic feet aren't very sensitive?

The ones I got are very similar to Bridgedales (which I also own but can't find). Wool is always a good bet because it retains a large amount of heat even when wet (or sweaty)

Cheers for the tips all - I don't think that my core was all that cold - in fact I had a bit of a sweat on by the end.
