Has anyone combined Yoga training with their skate training? I am running into some trouble with pain in my left thigh and am getting physiotherapy for it my physio and a friend suggested that I should do Yoga to improve my strength to get rid of the problem. Is anyone else using Yoga, or has used Yoga, in the past?
I thank in advance for any helpful comments that people may have |

| I did yoga for a week on holiday (free, on the beach) and it's really good actually. You'll hurt though! |

Merten and I do stretch courses once or twice per week.
It seems to help a lot because you strech your muscles and keep them agile.
I would recommend you to try it out. |

I used to do lots of yoga classes a few years back. I liked it so much that I was going for the early birds classes at 7:30am before work. Your body will tone up a bit, and you really feel so energised afterwards. Great feeling! |

Apparently, someone says that Bikram Yoga is good for you.
I think Mike VE tried it...
I'll get round to trying it someday: have been thinking about it for many years now, but never found the time |

bump. maybe the additional info here may help somebody else in the future.
The problem that caused the pain...
Finally I ended up seeing an Osteopath - he has done some manipulations and has given me 1 exercise to do (takes about 2-3min per day) and this is now working wonders.
Basically the hinge point on my spine had dropped from about the 5th disc where it should be sitting to about the 2nd disc (most likely caused from prolonged periods of skating). This created a lot of pressure on the first 2 discs (the ones at the bottom of the spine) and the nerves linked with those discs are the nerves that relate to the area of my leg where I was getting the pain.
I have now done 3 appointments in about 4 weeks and the change has been tremendous. A month ago i thought that my LeMans solo campaign was going to be over, so this is a great turnaround.
Total medical costs thus far approx £1,300 (thank you BUPA!) - 3xOsteo, 8xPhysio, 3xSpecialist, 1xMRI scan |
