Alright kids,
Check this out... It's time to get organised for the best marathon of the season. Only a select few of us have done this, but every single one of us has loved it. Engadin is the fastest marathon, most beautiful scenery, and best party of the season.
Hans and I swore when we were there last year, that this year we were going to organise for as many of the team to get out there as possible. Including hiring a mini bus to drive up into the Alps from Milan Bergamo - one of the best parts of the whole event, a totally awesome drive up into Switzerland through the Alps.
Here is the topic from last year, and our pics from the gallery.
So... who's keen?
You can also check the SIC website for specifics if you want....

Okay I'm registered.
There's several starts for speed and fitness. I guess it is worth all of us registering for the speed class. However, due to my age I have to start in the Breitensport category Men over 30 which starts 10 mins after some of you youngsters and 8 mins after the fitness people and 5 minutes after the young fitness women. I think that might be a little dangerous considering some of the speeds I can get up to down the hills. Do they check your start category or is it reasonable that I could jump up to the front of the fitness men or into the speed men on the day? |

If you are registered for the Speed Breitensport then you will start ahead of the Fitness people, apart from a few people in teams. The road you skate on is very wide, especially early on, so its not difficult to get past people.
You are given a coloured shirt to wear that is a different colour for the Fitness and Speed categories, so that is how they are check people are in the right start pen. |

| Do they have slow-down mats on the side if you don't want to go "over"-fast? |

There is one steep downhill where they put mats down. The rest of the course is a more gradual downhill, not scarily steep. I would skate on the mats on the big hill unless you are very confident on hills. |

Oh yes, and most importantly....
My birthday is on the 23rd June. Everyone thinks that the legendary after party is for the skating race, but actually it's in honour of my birthday. You are all cordially invited. Be there... |
