AFAIK it's track racing at tatem park, organised by LSST.  Prepare to be beaten by 10 year olds.

Hmmm...there's me thinking all club members get together to have a little race or something.

Oh well, methinks I'll steer well clear of the 10 year olds :)

For newish members that don't know. This is a race run by the club and is mainly for registered racers. The category racers are exclusively for licensed racers i.e. FISS members and other national federation members like Fred & Merten.

Non registered skaters may use the track at practice times and may also enter the RAT races. If enough of our members and non-members want to come along and have a go but don't want to join the federation, then we'll make sure there are adult RAT races of 500m and probably 1500m.

RAT stands for Recreational And Traditional whatever that means.

If you want to RAT race please post here so we can have an idea of the numbers. If you want to race for real and need to join FISS you can do it on the day. Membership forms can be downloaded from the FISS site. In the same place you will find the event entry form. Bring them both along on the day and you can enter. The £2 extra fee for late registration is not levied in these circumstances. Existing members need to preregsiter or pay the extra £2 on the day.

There is a club members discount of £1 on the above entry prices.

RAT races usually cost £2 but they are usually only a lap or 2. If we want to run full distance races then this is likely to be a little higher. FISS collect the money for RAT races so no member discount will be available.

I'm gutted I can't make this as I reckon it would be a good race intro for me (yes, even though I'd get beaten by all the kids!). Am visiting parents that weekend...

I would think Quads, Racing is after all way older than in lines. But then again who knows.

Consider this a tentative declaration of interest in longer RAT races - or then again I might be better off joining FISS just so I don't have to muck about with medical certificates for French races.

Er.  I realise that wasn't so constructive, was it?

Need to do a 500m time trial at Tatem to be sure but I'd say you were likely to be borderline cat 3/4. Same as Ray & me. I got pushed down into 4 last year when they increased the number of categories from 5 to 6.

Been asked to remind everyone that is currently a member of FISS that late entry fees under a new FISS rule will be double the advance entry fee. Club gets half, FISS the other half. If you're going to enter, please do so before next weekend expires (2nd April)

Last chance to get some proper practice in before the Le Mans time trials. Post below if you're seriously interested in attending, we may have to cancel this if it looks as if we're not going to have enough entries.

I'll be there for sure. I know Vinnie said he'd come along.

Have one of the ice skaters interested to come have a look see as well.
