|
|
Hi folks,
as the day for Prezelle has been confirmed to me and some people requested information, I've assembled the usual stuff. I'm quite keen on doing this race this year.
Further info below.
Race information:
Distances: Double marathon 84km, single marathon 42km, rec race 19km
Course: 22km street loop, flat, good surfaces except 100m cobbles. Skaters do several laps depending on race length.
Location: Prezelle, about 100km southeast of Hamburg, 70km from Lüneburg
Date / Time: Sunday, July 23rd, 2006. First start at 9am.
Classification: (2005) DRIVe class=A, InlineNews class=TOP. This is as good as it gets.
Fees, entry, ...
Timing system: ChampionChip
Fees: 34 to 45 EUR for double marathon, 20 - 30 EUR single, 10 - 15 for rec race. Cheap registration until June 25th.
Registration: Paper only, payment via bank transfer. Happy to assist for team members.
Documents: Can be collected on the day or the day before.
Getting there
Travel: Nearest airports are Hamburg, Hamburg-Lübeck, Hannover, all about the same distance, 110 km. Berlin is a bit further. Yes, it's sort of in the middle of nowhere Not sure about trains, maybe a rental car would be needed. I might be able to shuttle some people from Hamburg or Lüneburg, but I cannot confirm this yet of course.
Accomodation: private housing in small hotels or other accomodation, camping is possible as well.
On the day: Depending where you stay. It makes sense to arrive Saturday as there are warmup skates (1 lap) and a nice pasta party in the evening. I've been told the atmosphere is very nice as Prezelle is small and there are skaters everywhere...

Well I'm not going to be in the Europeans Couldn't give a stuff about Eastbourne either so this could be an option. I suspect I can count to 4 laps with the aid of a watch. Pretty cheap to enter too. Certain a distance worth making the trip for and I like the description "Flat, good surfaces" Just have to remember to not try to race when it's that far.
Not sure how to train for that distance, despite having done it twice before. Looking for a bit of advice? |

It's pretty simple and maximum two hours to do Lübeck - Lüneburg or Hamburg - Lüneburg by train for example. Berlin is a bit worse. Depending on how many LSST skaters are coming I guess we can sort something out and Michi and me can give people a lift from Lüneburg.
There are special tickets for regional trains, 27 EUR per zone for max. 5 people going together. You need one or two zones depending on the airport, so the maximum cost is 54 EUR each way shared. If you need to do the whole distance on your own, suitable train stations are 20 - 25 km from Prezelle depending on the airport you come from. So add a cab on top of that, I'm not sure what they charge but it cannot be that much. Busses do not look like an option, especially weekends.
Remember that this is a long race, so it would be a late Sunday or Monday return flight. |

Info for this year is available now, see above.
There are almost no changes to last year, just slightly higher fees. |

| Hmmm... Good training for the One-Eleven methinks (distance-wise that is, not the inclines!) |

I've had email contact with the organisers about UK skaters racing here.
Unfortunately you'll not be able to enter the championchip race in this case, only the open category. This might sound frustrating, but on the other hand the winning time in this race was 2:42 last year... sounds doable for a fast LSST paceline
And trust me, there's not only fitness gumbies. All non-licensed skaters also race this one, and there are some around. |

I think I will enter the "normal" marathon, if anyone is interested in a paceline |

| Quite fancy having a go at the double. Is anyone else (from London) planning to go over? |

| I'll be there. But I guess, you wouldn't count me as "from London" as I am licenced in Germany and would skate the championship |

where do you get that idea from ???
- associations with "diesel" would be .... that stuff you fill into a car .... not very flattering
- .... the engine type : o.k. , designed by a German, but not generally know for speed , although for power
And as I already explained to Nasha & co. on some LWNS-occasion "skaterliesel" is a not-very-flattering description for that sort of chick skating in very "hip" locations usually wearing either miniskirt or hotpants and a very tight top ....
Somehow, I got named that when I was in Barcelona and usually skating home from clubs at night instead of waiting for never-showing-up busses.
And just to spoil any thoughts of me showing up to a training session or a LWNS in hotpants or a mini-skirt .... IT WON'T HAPPEN ! I'll spare you that sight |

No hotpants? Well disappointed now...
Here skaterDiesel would be a compliment, someone who keeps on going powerfully and for long distances, yet with efficiency. |
