Yep that's right. It's the day after Blenheim. However, we shouldn't be that knackered after only a half marathon but I wonder if it will detract from the Blenheim race entries. For those with the latest FISS calendar which states this race is on 14th May, I checked and many of the other clubs are off in Brugges then so it has been rescheduled back, well loads of us are out in France so the event was never going to be viable on 14th.
Anyway, that aside there is a race meeting and the format is:
Cat 1 - 500m & 5000m + 1,500m Handicap
Cat 2 - 500m & 5000m + 1,500m Handicap
Cat 3 - 500m & 3000m + 1,000m Handicap
Cat 4 - 500m & 3000m + 1,000m Handicap
Cat 5 - 500m & 1500m + 800m Handicap
Cat 6 - 300m & 800m + 800m Handicap
The entry fee will be £ 10.00 per entry, which will cover all races.
FISS entry forms with cheques payable to "SWF Roller Speed Club" to be sent to:
Mrs Debbie Moore
59 Eastbridge Road
South Woodham Ferrers
Chelmsford
Essex CM3 5SB
To arrive by Saturday, 6th May or double if it's late.
I'll be officiating. Hope to see a few or more of you there. |

The day after Blenheim... still should be fun! A good weekend's training!
Don't have the schedule of the day, but it will be the standard 3 races type stuff. Think I'll be going along. |

Well that was wet
And some noticeable absences - like Gavin fr'instance.
Some pretty good performances - Matt really rocked - he won the cat 2 500m by a mile (metaphorically!) And was doing pretty good in the 5000m when he was taken out by another skater But he came first overall in cat 2 !!!
Isn't that Birmingham Wheels skinsuit awful - the only one who looked good in it was Alex and she'd look good in just about anything
James Ashby, straight from his victory at Blenheim put in a good effort - coming last in the 500m but coming 2nd behind Vinny and ahead of Staffie in the 5000m, then going on to win the Cat 1 & 2 handicap race.
LSST was woefully represented by me I was all ready to win in cat 4 but they put me up to cat 3 - I gave it my best shot and came in 4th in the 500m, got in 7th in the 3000m, and then 4th again in the cat 3 & 4 handicap.
Rick was there making sure that everything was done right.
Some pics will be up on the gallery soon. |

Was good impressive stuff from Matt. Particularly in the 500m where he went off the start and nobody could catch him in the wet. And this was cat 2 we are talking about here. Physical performance was brilliant, still a bit of learning to do as regards tactical awareness but nice and assertive.
Ray has moved up to Cat 3 and came 4th in the 500m and the Handicap. I guess that means I am back in Cat 3 if I ever race track again. Nice to see Ray being more assertive too. Not so worried about bumping a few of them now they arr a bit bigger.
Lots of water so technique was what gave people the killer blow in the conditions. |
