My left outside ankle bone is sore, and sensitive to pressure. I can even feel it when wearing rec skates.
Week before that I was skating all week with my speedboots no problem. Come Saturday @ Richmond, I tied them and felt a sharp pressure on my left ankle (on the bone). I thought it would pass so did a couple of medium laps. After the end of the second one, my everytime I set down, I could feel it really hurting and so did a small lap very slowly.
I can't really explain why I've got the sudden pain as it's always been fine. Maybe I didn't do my boot up properly - perhaps my feet were a bit swollen from the heat so didn't fit right. I just hope it gets better before Lille |

That's odd
I didn't have any pain for the whole week in Sardinia either. Last few times I've skated I get pain on the ankle bone too (right foot) |

Yes, lace tying technique is really critical to boot comfort. It seems to take me up to 50 hours of skating to learn to lace and wear a new set of skates comfortably. Perhaps I take more strain than most due to teaching in them for such long periods of time.
When you get a little pain, it's best to stop immediately and fix it, because if you leave it the results are usually not good and long term. |

That's what I thought - well not necessarily lace tying, but having them in properly in the first place.
I think I need to have my foot further back (although I don't think I could have had it any further back) in order to get my ankle into the moulded bit. It felt like it was too far forward, therefore the middle of bone touching the wrong part (hence the wondering if my foot was a bit swollen).
Oh well, I'm planning to rest a couple more days and then try again - fingers and ankles crossed! |
