I hope to get over to Tatem Tuesday as this will be my last session over there for 3 weeks as I'm off on holiday. While I'm away, your self appointed "Speed Captain" Gav and his assistant "Captain Speed" Hans will be looking after training.
As for tomorrow night - it looks like good weather, so depending on who's there, we'll be doing pursuit pack accelerations, half lap accelerations, 500m's and starts. We could also look at frame alignment and cornering track lines as these have been the subject of queries in the members area of the forum. |

Mon - Route check (in rec skates) will be hard work
Tue - Tatem
Wed - LondonSkate
Thu - no training
Fri - FISS committee meeting (no training)
Going into summer rest/recovery mode I have not more races to compete in until Berlin unless I get entered in the relay at the British track champs
Still going to be doing street skates but no hard skate training for the next 3-4 weeks to give me a chance of a complete recovery. Planning on giving one or both of my bikes a service and doing some cycling if anyone wants to join me. A couple of you have new bikes. I am thinking about places like Richmond Park and then some point to points or circuits of around 40-60 miles. Ouch my bum. Would be up for Richmond this weekend early in the morning, on Sun whether someone wants to join me or not. Will be servicing the bike on Sat. |

Can I be cheeky and ask if some "conventional wisdom" on this could be published for non-LSST members? |

Emptying my aching lungs to cheer on LSST members at Goodwood as they lapped me isn't enough support? |

Don't be a cheapskate! See Rick's post also, I'm sure you earn a lot more than I do. |

Hey Barrie,
Would be really great if you could join the team. Great for us as the more numbers really helps build up the profile of the team; but will also be great benefit for you as well - particularly during the winter when we do a lot of technique work - which is generally free for LSST members. If you did the technique sessions, then I am sure next year you would do much better at Goodwood/LIM etc.
I know it took me a while before I joined the club and in retrospect I wish I joined earlier because I would be a much better skater if I did.

It was outdoor round a 500m track with big bankings! I had to go in the "beginners group" for my first session and it was pretty simple and a bit tedious but I had to get used to the fixed gear and next week I should be able to be up their with the more "serious" guys but although I got to watch them round the track I have no idea if I can match their pace. |

Was it Hearn Hill? (Deep in South London)
Sounds like fun, a chunk of us went off to Calshot (comically tight small indoor veladrome with much banking.) Sadley we wern't able to actually push hard or ride close enough to make a difference that I could feel.
At least with skating you are used to getting good and close and running fast with no brakes. Heck I can see you being a bit peaved you have to hang so far back.
Did they come to you or did you go find them? (Wonder if there is a "go look at the skaters" policy in UK track cycling.) |
